thank you guys so much for the helpful info. I picked up another mod today and I'm also looking at getting a regulated something squonky (so many products to check out) so I can have one of those too. I did get the efests, though I'm not confident about those. I may also get the keeppower and see how they do. I love my Reo and don't want to stop using it for lack of batteries. Oh the irony, my mod can survive being run over by a vehicle, but still can't work because there's no batteries for it. Totally silly. I'm just happy there are some reasonable alternatives to consider (though likely not as durable. hopefully that won't have to be tested). Most appreciated everyone. :)
My 5 REO's are the backbone of my vapocalypse stash. :) I am guessing you have one of the minis?

If you want a regulated I have really enjoyed the Pulse BF 80w/90w. With the kit you also get a nice squonk atty for it.

For unregulated have a look at the Athena.

Both can be picked up relatively cheaply (particularly compared to the price of a REO back in the day). I would also tell you to keep your eye on the classified. Used REOs come up occasionally. A Standard REO or a LP Standard REO would keep you in a REO but using 18650s.

The Dovpo Topside, regulated single 21700 version is quite interesting @Zealous. As it's a well thought out design.

Also there's the Geekvape Aegis Squonker, that's a single 18650 ruggedised one that can stand some abuse and the occasional impromptu bath.

Either of those will be a great choice for 1 ohm plus vaping but to get an idea of what's out there if you really want, check out the Squonk Porn thread (honestly, that's what it's called).
Squonk Porn!

It's a shame that you're Reo isn't able to use an 18650 or there was some way to convert it to, because they're classics.

Yes I will be watching the sell thread to see if something comes up. Way back, I did plan on getting a grande. But then life happened and I didn't get to doing it. I was totally surprised to learn the store had closed (although, in retrospect, not too surprised given current trends).

I did like the pulse 80/90w so good to read some positive user experience about it.

One I would tell you to avoid is the Fuchai squonk mod. I know it is dirt cheap these days and a dual battery mod BUT... the bottles for it are a PITA to get your hands on. Very proprietary size.

If I were looking for a dependable 18490 / 18500 today I would get the Keeppower IMR 18500 from Illumn. I looked around and couldn't find a review on these I trust, but IMO Keeppower has always had good batteries and I've been buying my vape batteries from Illumn for years because they are one of the suppliers I trust.

Thank you for this. I did get the efests as those were the first I found. But I also got these per your recommendation and I have found them to be just fine.

Someone here said the efest wrappers can tear easily. I can see how that would happen. But these, keeppower's, are well wrapped, and compared to the efests I've found the drop in voltage is a bit better. The efests drop lower than I like to use, pretty quickly, whereas the keeppowers are holding to that mid voltage longer, so I can use them for a longer period before putting them on the charger. Nice recommendation.

Also, if you want to replace your atty, I got a couple of these that even fit my old 14500 Minis, and Mini Woodvils at less than $15 each. Buy Kindbright Speed Revolution EVO Style Silver 316SS 14mm BF RDA
THIS is exactly what I needed. Thanks for the link, I just got a few. I was looking all over for these, after researching, and couldn't find them anywhere in stock. So glad for the link. This is exactly the type addy I use and I really didn't want to have to relearn to build my coils on the new addy that came with my pulse bf. Most appreciated!

Irritating discoveries: I have been using the pulse bf some, but mostly using my reo, now that I have batteries for it. What I have discovered about the Pulse is that the "improvements" made to the squonk bottle are quite possibly the stupidest choices anyone could make (no judgement; I know someone must love them as that's all I can find now). The cap on these bottles is a leak source, and you can't even touch them without squeezing liquid because they're so sensitive. Even though I fill it, with the suggested squonk bottle, through the 510 hole, it still leaks regularly inside the device.

My Reo has had leak issues before, but they always centered around the hose not being correctly attached or it leaked around the atty well. However, those quonk bottles have always worked perfectly, until they wear out and have to be replaced (eventually a crack will form and it leaks).

Totally ridiculous to "improve" something that was already quite adiquate, only to make it considerably more difficult and faulty. I almost wonder if someone in government created the new ones.

ANYway, I truly appreciate all the help everyone has provided. I've got myself all sorted for now, and, hopefully, will have no more problems.

I would get a replacement bottle. Mine has never leaked even once and I have been using it for months. sounds like there might be a tiny split somewhere.

Totally agree. Mine has never leaked and I have also been using it for months. Grabbed another and some bottles for stash. They're nice little squonkers esp. for the price.

Hm, perhaps I will give it a try as soon as I can find them in stock. It might be that mine is just faulty. I like it, aside from that. But it's not acting like it has a slow leak since when I leave it alone is isn't leaking all over the inside. It's only doing it when I'm using it just after it's been filled.
