Hello All Fellow Vapers!
I just can't believe how the time has flown by! I have been a nonsmoker now since April 13th, 2011. Approximately four years and a little over three months have thankfully not gone up in smoke! I celebrate every anniversary and enjoy having extra money, but my health has improved exponentially. I also have not had any nicotine in my vape juice and find I vape less than I used to. I still vape every day and I used to be a marathon smoker of Carlton Ultra Lights.
I smoked heavily for 36 years. I even smoked after having a heart attack -- although I tried to quit several times, only to drive myself nuts. I had such an ingrained habit, I should have started my own religious order of nuns. "Addict" should have been my middle name.
Whew, if it were not for reading an article about vaping on international flights several years ago that had a link to this forum, I am not too sure I would still be alive. I honestly do not exaggerate. I quit in the nick of time and I am forever grateful.
I made it through multiple health problems about a year since I became a nonsmoker. I made it through stage one ovarian cancer, had over half of my C-spine replaced with two surgeries, had hernia surgery because the ovarian tumor weakened my abdominal wall, and I believe it was the heavy smoking that caused me to develop Barrett's esophagus.
I have had very little time to be part of this great community. I have two more surgeries coming, and then I will be home free, but I firmly believe I would not have pulled through had I still been smoking three packs a day. The way I used to cough and cough would have freaked out any smoker. I'd still be at it if not for finding this community and devoting my attention to getting off the bed of coughin' nails I was sleeping on! I smoked when I was smoking, it was so bad.
I sincerely hope all of you are well, and I look forward to being a part of this community again.
