It's not a hookah!!

So I went to a birthday party for my niece this past weekend and myself and my friend who got me into vaping were both there using our devices. People are interested and curious as usual, but most of my family know what I am doing. When a girl said "oh, is that one of those portable hookah thingys". So of course I had to explain what an ecig was, so another person joined in and said that's not an ecig, it doesn't look like a cigarette. I have a an ecig". Then proceeds to pull out a blu ecig. So then I had to explain to him what cartomizers and tanks and batteries are. Then a little while later a completely different person who was not apart of the original conversation says "oh, is that one of those new hookah things?" *Le sigh* I said "No ITS NOT A HOOKAH!!" Don't get me wrong I love spreading the vaping word, but portable hookah, ... even is that? Those nasty cheepo gas station ecigs? Bleh, it's almost insulting. Anyone else feel me?

I had the EXACT same issue with a coworker. He wasn't a smoker but would use a hookah every once and awhile. It came up in convo I made the transition and about once a month I'd hear "you still using that hookah thing?" I recognize the similarities but still annoying. Also the guy with the blu arguing with you, now thats funny!

I totally feel you! My 14 year old son, who by the way knows everything keeps on arguing with me calling my battery a hookah ! He rolls his eyes and thinks I'm the stupid one. I explained hookah was for smoking tobacco but he insists on arguing assuming I'm just not with it and I know nothing..! Sigh once more I explained the difference but he downright refused to listen and thinks I just don't know what I'm talking about. Now when he calls it a hookah I just sigh and say whatever, son your wrong. But I can not even though I explained in detail the difference, get him to stop calling it that.! Drives me crazy!

Ha! Had a neighbor friend stop by to show me his new car just the other day. While standing in my driveway discussing the car, my vapor drifted across his face and he asked, "What is that? A hookah?" I just laughed and then explained what I was using. I found it rather comical myself.

Holy cow!!!! I have the same experience when I go out. The worse one was when I was at a Car wash and the owner who is Arab comes up to me and says "how do you like those hookah pens?" I look at him and tell him is an ecig, he is like "no, its a hookah pen and my best friend invented them"... so me not to start arguing because I was in a hurry, I told him "tell you so called best friend thanks" and laughed while walking out. Just ...... me off!!!! (short version)

Yep the yun know all the answers - they just don't know all the questions lol
I use a PV not an e-cigarette , they do not look like a cigarette and there's no fire or smoke

I haven't had some one ask if mine was a hookah, But I am finding that everyone who is interested in my PV asks the same question, Oh can you use the "OTHER" stuff in that..... I"m like I'm not in to that crap, and then abruptly end my education class

I vape at my desk at work and there is a steady stream of people in and out all day and the most frequent reaction I get is the same as everyone else in this thread. I find the question incredulous actually, if it was a Hookah do you think the employer would actually permit me to sit here using it openly 8hrs a day?
Dont know what it is? Ask. Give your head a shake and dont make stupid assumptions.

It's as much a "electronic hooka" as it is an "electronic cigarettee" and to me it's more reminiscent of smoking a hooka then smoking a normal cigarette. You're really just getting caught up in odd word choices.
