I've been running this .95 all day and it's yummy in Scarlett

I haven't. I only ran the woodville for a few hours with the .5, only until I got home and started modding the other one but it did hit good at the .5, weaker than a modded mech with good brass contacts but really not bad for what it is. the biggest drawback to running a .5 is that the added resistance throughout this mod will wind up sacrificing some usable battery mah wasted in the added resistance. when the resistance is higher you'll wind up wasting some power and sacrifice a little run time. the added resistance does consume some power
I can tell you that voltage drop will be fairly significant and that doing something with the spring will reduce it quite a bit. remember that the switch is rated to 5 amps but that's a 5 amp continuous load rating and will almost always be a conservative rating anyway. intermittent loads such as ours usually allow for quite a bit more. personally I wouldn't be afraid to run a woodie at .6 all day every day, which is really only ~7 amps max but that leaves less room for error and I wouldn't be upset if it did wind up crapping out a few months down the line too, although personally I don't believe it will.
of course I can't guarantee this but from everything I know I really believe it but this is why rob has specifically said this is not a sub ohm mod, so people don't get annoyed with the voltage drop or complain about the mod or expect more than it's designed for, but honestly I think he's spec'ing this thing very conservative and I think reasonable sub ohming is very doable here. to me the woodie hits better than my metal grand did. personally I'd sub ohm a woodie daily over a grand with the old contact setup if I had to, but you should probably stay at ~.7-.8 to be very safe if you don't want to risk anything long term.
if I get a chance I'l try to torture test my other woodie. I'll really torture test it and measure the results. I think this thing is much more capable than it's been made out to be and will surprise you but it's def in robs best interest to rate it conservatively, it's def better to over deliver than over promise, and we all know rob does that so well![]()
Thanks turboI only plan on going as low as .8 on this wood, which has been just a great vape over the past two days. My internet searches lead me to the same conclusion about continuous load versus intermittent, and very conservative ratings. But you have real world knowledge, not just second hand google (what I have), So thank you for chiming in, and look forward to the "turbo test"!
I'm fine with paying for a replacement part, so I've personally already resolved that concern.
When the new contacts come out in a week, I should be able to replace the spring, to dispose of some of the mod resistance and ditch the 3 amp on/off switch at that time
Indeed it will, mon, however the negative spring is the same for the two, except for the metal is screwed in the mod and the wood is soldered, so the benefits will still be available for the negative spring to be replaced, have a look see in your bloodwood, you will see the hole where the screw would pass through the spring plate if it were used in you metal grand. Here's a closer lookThe voltage drop kit will be for the metal reos.

This just occurred to me as I was reading turbo's post about the negative spring having the most significant voltage loss.
So woodies should be able to upgrade the negative contact.
I think the porcupine dust had some prima donna magic this round. Mine has already told me that it wants a new rebuildable (hand me downs just won't do!), that the Howards feed-n-wax isn't sufficient- must have Sun Shield, and now it is whispering for a new drip tip. This one must be a woman.Just for fun, while waiting on my brass RM2 I thought I would "bling" up my silver one. HA HA I am so not crafty but it's sort of fun. It's copper tape.

I thought I should mention the new sub ohm springs will work with all of these wood mods and it will make a big difference
I use bottles like these to mix my juice in, piece of cake to fill the REO bottles from one.How long is it going to take me to get used to a smaller battery and bottle? Good night this little bottle is hard to fill!!
I have to find those, the tip I'm trying to fill with is crazy big, I spill as much as I get in the bottles!! lolI use bottles like these to mix my juice in, piece of cake to fill the REO bottles from one.

oh, and since I don't have the sunscreen yet, she gets covered up in a soft micro-cloth when she isn't in my hand.
I have to say, I am completely in love with mine! I've gone through three different juice changes since 5 pm yesterday - I can't put it down. Glad I got two and am quietly hoping I see some in the classies in two weeks (when I have a check not allocated to any bills), so I can add more.
I love the placement of the firing button. I thought the metals were awesome, the woods blow me away!
And I just snagged this tip off of Molehill Mountain Art Drip Tips today:
And they are making me a purpleheart/birdseye tip, and I've asked for a random segmented tip that has bloodwood at the top and the bottom and at least some curly maple as part of the segmented wood!
