J Tank Noise Question

I just got my first carto tank, (J tank from ElectroNicStix.com) and bought a really cheap ($3.99) saddle valve locally and punched two holes in a Boge carto. Everything fit, there are no leaks and the vape is OK. But it makes a really strong, wettish gurgling sound. Is this normal? It's a different and louder sound sound than the soft sizzle I've come to expect from a carto.

I've already ordered the little shaft body with screws from Valley View Vapes, since I can tell the cheap SV isn't going to last very long, and wonder if I made the holes too large or something. Also, I never heard the "pop" from the puncher, which I'm guessing is a hard vs. hard thing, that the SV puncher isn't robust enough for the carto... But I don't really know, and the gurgling sound is kind of irritating. Any thoughts?

No one with thoughts about the slurpy sound? At any rate, my 2nd carto punched better and the sound is lessened, but the J Tank is really tight and difficult to take the cap off of and replace the carto. It's not nearly as easy as Jared's instructional video suggests. But once it's loaded it works really well.

Not sure, but it sounds like your holes are too big and it's starting to flood. What ratio juice are you using?

It's a mostly PG juice (Not DYI, I think 80/20). I'm still not sure of the optimum ratio, but value ease of use more than I do flavor. When it comes to the Epicurean aspect, I'm not terribly fussy.

Yeah, with 80/20 I'd think 1 hole would be fine. Try that, or 2 smaller holes.

Thanks, and I think you're right that it's just a question of punching proper holes in proper locations. With the Boge cartos, third time was a charm. Two small holes (about half a saddle valve turn after the pop) 180 degrees apart aligned just above the bottom cap and all is good. I suppose it's normal to burn through a bit of equipment during the learning process.

The J Tank fit is smoother and easier too once it's been used a couple of times. I probably jumped the gun a little bit posting the question.

Nah, it's a good question that I only knew the answer from reading about others with the same problem. I do think it's part of the learning curve with tanks. For me it was not enough holes. I'm using 30/70 and I ruined 2 cartos before I figured out I needed 3 moderately sized holes.
