man.. growing up.. i never listened to the dead.. first time i was aware of them was seeing a personalized license plate saying gr8ful ded or something like that on a cadillac. i asked my mom about it.. she was like.. oh they are a band.. but its the devils music! i pretty much just had no interest in them after that.. until i got to college.. met some hippies who taught me all about the dead.. and the virtues of good beer and smoke and such... hehe... i didn't get much learning done that year.. but i sure was at every show i could get to. i was always dancing my ... off and thouroughly enjoying myself. i remember once the group i hung out with was chilling at a house before a show and one of the guys said something to one of the girls that i was a poser bc i had short hair and was new to the scene. i didnt have to say a word.. two of the girls jumped up and were like... w t f are you talking about? this cats out at EVERY show and is dancing and having a blast the whole time. in fact. hes been to about twice the shows you've been to w/ us, and your normally talking in the corner and not even digging the vibe.. maybe you are the poser sir!

oh.. good times.. miss that.. and miss going to shows knowing hardly anyone.. and making great friends just bc we all could tell we were there for the exact same reason!

one of my favorite songs.... but then again i have sooo many favorite songs hehe

Box of Rain is my fav song on the American Beauty album.

Now granted, my generation did a lot of odd things from the mid '60's to early 70's. Have you ever noticed that the American Beauty cover can be read as American Reality? Then when you've taken too much Pink Owsley, hold the album cover up to a mirror it reads Devil's Kingdom. I blame it on the Owsley. :)

man...i definitely missed up on certain aspects of that culture and time. to be able to order some up delsyd from sandoz, or to have some of owsleys magic. i definitely did the best I could to get acquainted w/ sir hoffmans magic molecules, but i know that i missed the magic window for that..

now this is a nice jam

It is sounding like you would have fit in very nicely with the four of us hitting Hollywood every weekend wandering. There was always room in my Volkswagen van for others. :vapor: I don't think it was vapor coming out of it though
