Just a random observation here but it seems like the people bashing here are the same people that have bashed this company in the past and take every opportunity to do so that comes along.

This sale is a nice thing. They typically have sales for every holiday that comes along. Forgoing a Saint Patrick's day sale to help out a group of people that desperately need it is a really nice thing. Unless you have an agenda.

I agree completely. I don't see this as some money grab at the expense of others.

This is truly upsetting. A company shouldn't use such a tragic situation to draw in revenue and that's exactly what's going on here. FSUSA is not donating 10% of anything nor are they "matching" anything....the customer is.

A 10ml bottle of juice costs less that $1.00 to make and FSUSA charges $6.00 per bottle...that's a 600% profit, (if we use $1.00 but I am sure it costs them much less). So, they are offering 20% off which brings the prices down to $4.80. Now...here is what people are missing...FSUSA states they will contribute 10% of the final cost, (i.e. $4.80), so they now "contribute" 48 cents. Oh yes...almost forgot..they will also "match" this 10 % of the final cost so that brings their total match to 96 cents for every $6.00 bottle sold.

Now...let's look at the numbers. The buyer pay's $4.80 after the 20% discount and FSUSA matches 96 cents. $4.80 -.96 = $3.84. Not bad....they are still making almost 400% profit and getting new orders that they wouldn't have otherwise and they haven't had to pay one cent. The customer has paid everything.

If you want to donate to the cause send that $6.00 to a legitimate charity organization. Your $6.00 will go further than the $2.16 made from this "sale."
sounds likem you have a PERSONEL thing with Freedom Smokes.

I did find the FSUSA sale in the Suppliers Forum, so, unlike Edwv30, I'll man-up and admit I made a misstatement. It is buried on the 3rd page of the forum.

Yes, I will admit to the same. Except that it was MistressNomad who verified it. (must not be popular, if it's only on the 3 page.)

Wow...unbelievable.

I disagree with ANY SUPPLIER using a tragedy like what happened in Japan in order to run a sale. I don't care how much "donations" the supplier generates or doesn't generate...the fact is...the supplier is still making a profit because of a tragedy. The "other sellers are having St. Patrick's day sales...does that make it better?" argument is getting old and is a non-issue. The other St. Patrick's day sales are not using key words like "Japan" or "Help Us Help Japan" in order to generate sales. And yes...FSUSA is making a profit...they have weekly 30% off sales and just happened to use the code "HelpJapan" this week. It is no different.

The terms of the sale is confusing. People were throwing statements around like "They are donating 20% and matching an additional 10% of the 10% donated from the sale." This simply isn't the case. FSUSA is matching 10% of the final cost, (i.e. after the 20% discount). This total donated actually comes out to 96 cents for every $6.00. Why couldn't they simply say this? It's much easier to understand and potential buyers would realize exactly how much of their money was being used for the cause.

If you want to accuse me of making it personal then fine...I personally disagree with the way this sale is being ran. If the supplier wants to donate...then donate. If they want to generate other donations they could take up a collection but DON'T use this disaster in order to start a sale and generate revenue.

Okay okay, fair enough. Apple and oranges. You feel it's unethical, others don't (like myself).

If people want, they'll donate. If people want, they'll buy e-juice. If people buy e-juice from FSUSA, they'll make money and donate a portion to help Japan.

The sky still appears blue, the sun still gives warmth, let's move on with our lives.

Google provided a good way for people to help the Japanese people north of here

Resources related to the 2011 Japan crisis it also provides some resources of information on relief.

There is no obligation for help.. and Japan is not asking for the assistance. Like with any event, people choose what is important for them to support and how to go about it, even if it is just a wish for their well being.

It is unreasonable for an individual to donate to EVERY cause that occurs, but it is GREAT that there are resources of ANY kind available for the ones that are in search for a way to help.

And how much are you donating? They don't have to do this. They could have their usual Saint Patrick's day sale and keep all the profits for themselves. Instead they are donating a portion of what would have been pure profit anyway to a very worthy cause.

Take the personal vendetta out of it for a second and you might see that you are being very unfair here. I am not sure the recipients of this help will care about your dubious numbers. The fact is people that really need it are going to get food, water, and clothing etc. because of this sale. How in the world that can be a bad thing is incomprehensible to anyone without an agenda.

$13.44 is going from my order to help those in need. I would have bought from them either way so $13.44 is going to a very good cause that would not have otherwise. Win-win.

Here's something far more relevant to the "Japan crisis"... How much money did the government or citizenry of Japan give the USA for Katrina relief?

We had to take care of our own and did a pretty damned lousy job of it. Haiti and Japan are not my problem, I don't care what anyone says.

No response needed....enough said.

See, all that matters is your supplier (and now member) bashing agenda. You completely ignore the fact that the quoted post was later identified (in my response to hairball) a a tactic solely to distract you and your spiteful cadre of haters from your vengeful focus on supplier bashing.

It's sad that you seem to be such an unhappy hateful person hell-bent on disparaging and denigrating the supplier in question whenever the opportunity presents itself and create one when it doesn't.

It's also very telling that you're ignoring ThomasP's question about how much you donated.

Here's a thought, modify your paranoid diacetyl sig to include "I hate FSUSA" and then you wouldn't have start or derail threads to rant and rave about your hatred. Maybe you register a domain like ihatefsusa.com, take all your hater friends with you, and commiserate uninterrupted.

Now, enough said.

Good day.

LOL..no supplier OR member bashing here. Your initial response wasn't a "tactic" it was a result of your ignorance to the facts.

I am actually a very happy person. I have no intentions of disparaging or denigrating any supplier. I DO have a problem with the way FSUSA ran this sale in order to redirect attention\raise revenue. Sorry...it's how I feel.

It's also very telling that you're ignoring ThomasP's question about how much you donated.

Huh??? Are you redirecting attention from the issue at hand again? I donated more than $100.00 but less than $700.00 to a REPUTABLE CHARITY but I don't see how that's your business? I haven't advertised "sales" or "Help Japan" charities to assist in my donations and \or revenue. What, exactly, is your point?

Oh...I see...my sig bothers you, (don't worry it bothers a lot of people). Sorry, am not going to change it until all suppliers have disclosed the truth about\removed Diacetyl from their juices. It IS a big deal. It's also interesting that you tied FSUSA into the whole Diacetyl issue.

Now, enough said.

Good day.

Absolutely, Good Day.

well, that was 8 pages of interesting

+1 on that and I want the 8 minutes of time I spent reading it back. My browser is set up for more posts per page so I only had 3 pages. Anyway as the death toll rises and a potential nuke disaster looms give what you can to a reputable charity and if a company is willing to donate a portion of your total invoice to a disaster relief charity then that makes your donation dollars go a bit further. Take a nice long deep vape and be thankful you have a warm bed and solid roof over your head today.

Wow, edwv00 you just can't control yourself can you? All that effort and and a quite impressive and time-consuming use of multi-quotes focused on Little-old me? Not sure if I should feel honored or insulted. For a "happy" person your actions are pretty... well... sad.

You say to me "Your initial response wasn't a "tactic" it was a result of your ignorance to the facts."

It's silly that you believe you understand my motivations better than I do, even when I've already explained them..twice. Can you say "delusional"? Sure, I knew that you could.

Congratulations; you're the second ECF-ER that's made my ignore list. The first one has now apparently 'moved on'. Thanks for the chuckles, beware the men in white coats, and have a nice life.

You are now officially IGNORED!

I don't know if it is xenophobia or not. It's probably a combination of the poor economy and the fact that people assume Japan has the resources to take care of itself... as if the U.S. didn't during Katrina.

And proximity is another factor. Haiti, in addition to being a country that could not take care of itself to begin with, is pretty much right in our back yard (less than 700 miles from Miami).

I would highly recommend that those inclined to give just make a non-specific donation to a quality charity like Doctors Without Borders.

I could launch into a long rant about why you shouldn't donate to the Red Cross but I won't. Let's just say that things like the fact that they still hadn't spent half a billion dollars earmarked for Asian tsunami relief five years later is one reason.

This is silly.

If your vendor is making donations to the crisis in Japan, great. If they do it by donating a portion of their sales during a sale, great. If it increases their sales, thus increasing their donation, great. If they make money off the deal, great. It is still a free country, purchase from them or don't, donate to Japan or don't. It's your money, spend it, give it, hoard it, or burn it as you wish.
