I commented:

Maureen Busalacchi, do you or your organization do research beyond parroting the tired disinformation in the news release the FDA made based on their now debunked study? If one is interested in developing a balanced and informed position on E Cigarettes, all one need do is some basic, open-minded research. I suggest tobaccoharmreduction.org as a good place to start?

There is no lack of data that supports E Cigarettes are magnitudes safer than smoking and have helped millions of nicotine addicted individuals (such as myself) eliminate the preponderance of harm associated with smoking; the smoke. The “quit or die” mentality that permeates anti-tobacco (Harm Reduction) zealots’ mindset misleads many smokers into believing that they only have those two choices. Given the miserable success rate of FDA approved cessation products, the later choice is more likely!

Reputable organizations such as the American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP) support adding E Cigarettes to existing tobacco regulations versus regulating them (out of existence) as a Drug Delivery Device. Of course, AAPHP has no financial ties with Big tobacco or Pharmaceutical Firms and receives no funding from tobacco taxes!

What would it be like to live with the thought that millions of people died because they were denied a third alternative; one that actually that works?

Hey, look at that that, I put an extra that that, in my comment at the the end! I knew I shouldn't have given my editorial staff the the day off! lol

Maureen Busalacchi, executive director of Smoke Free Wisconsin, isn't buying it. Johnson Creek's efforts to get into the restaurant and bar business by selling the e-cigarettes and the smoke juice may confuse people.

"And it's appalling they are trying to get kids addicted to nicotine," she said.

Nooo - what's appaling is making infamatory statements such as this without solid proof to back them up. And don't give me the 'flavors such as chocolate and mint,' line, either, as your proof that these are geared to addict children, unless you are ready, willing and able to remove the flavorings from every Nicorette product and flavored alcohol product (also very bad for kids, but sold to adults) currently on the market today.

Statements such as these show the true motivation behind the 'cause...' and that is to control the actions of adults from a moral high-ground where you, in light of you being so very much better than the 'unwashed masses,' have the right to dictate to otherwise free-thinking and consenting adults what they should or should not do to their own bodies, so long as it harms no others.

I will be putting that in the comments as soon as I get home from work. These anti's need to have a large mirror put up to their faces....to see their ugliness for what it truely is. Sheesh.

Great minds and all that Vicks. My comment

Johnson Creek should strongly consider filing suit against Busalacci and her organization Smoke-Free Wisconsin for the libelous statement, "And it's appalling they are trying to get kids addicted to nicotine." It would be interesting to see Busalacci on the stand, trying to explain how Johnson Creek's use of flavors is sinful, but GlaxoSmithKline's use of mint, fruit, and cinnamon flavors in Nicorette gum has no hidden purpose.

Grrr... saw this comment:
Yes, Electronic Cigarette is healthy for you, and will help you stop smoking.
Kimree, a Electronic Cigarette manufacturer, can offer E-Cigarette and OEM. Sale number: 0086-755-83218756

and felt compelled to respond:
Dear Kimree: You just don't get it, do you? You are making it more difficult for the companies that play by the rules to stay in business. The FDA is claiming that e-cigarettes are unapproved drug/delivery combination devices because some vendors, like yourself, are making unsubstantiated claims that the products are healthy or can help people stop smoking. If you are willing to spend millions of dollars conducting randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials to prove your claims, go right ahead. But until your product is FDA-approved, you can't make such claims.

It's true though, I just posted in another thread that when I have a good lit ecig in my hand, I am not smoking, it really does help. It could be a pacifier or whatever, it just happens that an ecig is to me experientally the most accurate approximation to smokig. As long as I keep wanting the lit ecig in my hand, I don't want an analog cigarette. It's true!
