Holy cr*p, I wrote a book. Sorry!
I don't like juice reviews. Every time I try something that comes highly recommended by a review, I get burned (except for IVape. His juice is good, too but still isn't quite hitting the spot) and it leaves me very disappointed. I can normally vape through even the really bad ones so I don't have to waste them but none have been good. All have been just "fair" and my experiences have left me scared to try new vendors. Any hint of the word "perfume" or "soap" in a review also sends me running the other way, as this is a huge issue with me. So my review is bias in that I'm a freak of nature with my tastes and smells. The vaping gods have not been kind to me.
So, anyway, I like JC juice. From the mixed reviews I've read, their juice is either something you either like or you can't stand but I do like it. My husband, on the other hand, ran away screaming like a little girl when he smelled the JC Original. LOL Oh, well. They were the first juice I bought after I got my overpriced mall kit and I actually found them through a Google search, the same day I found this forum. I have tried a few other vendor juices and spent way too much time and money on DIY with no satisfying results. So, out of sheer frustration in finding something vapable, I flipped a coin to choose from either JC or Ivape and it landed on Heads, so I re-ordered from Johnson Creek. Now, until today, I've only used their PG line of juices. Some are good, some are just, well, just icky. It does sometimes need to sit so the flavors can meld and upon first opening it, can have an almost antiseptic type of smell, like Bactine or something. It's very strange, but if you let it sit open for a few hours and then just let it sit in a dark place for 2 or 3 days, the flavors really pop out, the nasty goes away and it's good. At least, in my experience. It's never been so good that I couldn't put it down but the most important aspect of it, is that it's not sickly sweet or perfume-y at all and that's been my biggest problem with finding the right juice.
Well, with my new order, I purchased the Red Oak line sample flavor pack, which comes with all 7 of their Red Oak flavors. What the heck, I said. I'm so glad I did! They are absolutely fantastic! Much better than the original juices. I really can't explain it but all I know is I now have 90 ml of juice to hurry up and get through so I can order bigger bottles of them. One of the juices I got from their original PG line was the Chocolate Truffle, which is very good and tastes like chocolate but the Red Oak Dark Swiss....it's like a chocolate lover's dream. It's REAL chocolate, almost like I melted a Hershey bar into my atomizer and vaporized it. I have been searching for a realistic chocolate flavor but only ever could seem to find a chocolate liqueur type of flavor. This is not a chocolate liqueur taste. I could easily OD on this and might need to get myself a 0-nic bottle, just so I can suck on it 24-7. It's that good. If you're searching for a rich, decadent, real chocolate vape, this is it. I want to heat it up and drink it like cocoa because that's exactly what it tastes like to me. I thought the Chocolate Truffle tasted like cocoa but it's nowhere near as accurate as the Dark Swiss. There are no underlying flavors or aftertastes in these Red Oak flavors, they simply are the flavors they're supposed to be, yet are complex and satisfying.
So after I sampled the Dark Swiss, I dripped on 2 drops of the Wisconsin Frost without cleaning the atty. I'm not a menthol or mint fan at all but all of sudden, I'm vaping the best mint chocolate I've ever had. Man, it was good! Once the chocolate was gone, it became a very cool wintergreen type flavor. Very cool and minty on the back of the throat and the smell is amazing. Impressive on its own but I think I like it better mixed with the chocolate. Not over-powering and did not leave itself forever on my atomizer, which I thought it would.
The Marcado smells to me like Christmas in a bottle and upon vaping it, reminded me of when my mom would simmer cinnamon and cloves on the stove when I was a child. Excellent, festive taste. I will definitely be ordering more for the holidays. It's cold out here today, so upon smelling this delightful concoction, I might just simmer some cinnamon and cloves in my tea light burner while I vape this up.
Island--very tropical. There's definitely coconut in there but I can't place my brain on the other fruit flavors. Deliciously right on target with the flavor and would be very nice on a hot summer day. Not an all-day for me but certainly something I would use for a few hours.
Valencia -- the best orange I've tried. Not a candy-orange but a ripe, sweet citrus flavor. Again, not an all day vape for me but would be very nice on a hot day for a change-up. The smell and flavor is realistic and delicious.
Finally, I tried Tennessee Cured and Domestic. Not my favorites of the bunch but I'm not a tobacco flavor fan. They both smell fantastic but the taste is not for me, so I shall stick them in my husband's stocking.
Semi-Sweet, Mild and not nearly so offensive on first impression as the JC Original PG juice.
None of these Red Oak flavors have that heavy medicine/antiseptic smell to them. They all smell and taste exactly like their name--right out of the bottle. I got these on Saturday and they took 4 days to get here, so they've had a good week to steep upon being shipped. Somehow, I don't think they need any sitting time at all, though because they are just fantastic and I've not had a juice yet that tasted the way I thought it was supposed to.
The JC Red Oak juices are all VG and only go as high as 18mg (what I ordered) but every, single one has a very nice TH and the flavor is amazing. Not too strong, not too sweet but just right. I've not had a juice yet that left a lingering odor after vaping but these do. (which is what I want but keep this in mind, if you don't.) After vaping the Marcado for a minute, walking out of the kitchen and walking back in, the cinnamon and clove were still in the air.
For all the juice, even the tobacco blends that aren't for me, I give the tastes and smells 10/10, the vapor production is excellent, 9/10 for all. Throat hit, for being VG, I give a 8/10 for all. Higher for the Wisconsin Frost. Overall, an excellent line of juice! (I tested these on my regular 510 atomizer.)
I did not find any of the flavors to stick to my atomizer. After I tasted all the samples, I blew out the atty once and stuck the Spiced Apple Cider from their PG line (also very good!) in there and that's all I could taste after a puff or two. I so want to gobble up the Swiss Dark but it's only 4ml and I'll have that gone in no time, so I need to get a bigger bottle before I indulge. I might find myself using it today but I'm going to try and restrain myself.
Now, if they'd make a coffee or cappuccino blend for their Red Oak line, I'd be set for life. I may dabble with more DIY in the future but for now, the Swiss Dark is going to be a new addiction for me all by itself. I simply need to know what they use for flavoring so I can buy a lifetime supply. I wonder if soaking cocoa beans in VG would do it? I might have to try. That's what it tastes like.
One last note on the darkness of some of their juice--I've never had an issue with it clogging my atomizer. I know some said they have. I find it to be very clean so we'll see as I use more of the VG juices, if that causes a problem or not. I'd need to use a whole sample bottle up before I could really comment on that.
Thanks for listening to my (hopefully somewhat coherent) rambling but I have been on a search for the perfect flavors for me without much success until now and I'm very excited! Tastes are always very personal and my taste buds are whacked, I think, more than most. Either that, or I'm just too picky but for whatever reason, these juices hit my sweet spot right square in the face.
