Just pre-ordered the Kanger subox Mini as my first venture into the vape space.

Been smoking for a long while now, quit a few times. Longest stretch was about 1.5-2 years before caving and smoking like I was making up for lost time. Hoping that vaping might curb the habit once and for all as it did for one of my friends.

Anyways, looking forward to starting my journey with everyone... thanks for reading.

Welcome to the forums!

The Subbox mini was designed for simplicity, and an good box... However, it's not a complete set. What other devices did you get with it? like:

Atomizer?
Battery brand?
Battery Charger?

That is going to be an excellent kit to get you started. There are a few other things you are going to need. First, and this you need right now, is a couple batteries. I would suggest the Samsung 25R ($24 for 2), they are a high quality battery with a proven record. You can also charge the via the USB, but I highly recommend a stand alone charger (much safer), the XTAR VC2 ($20) is what I use and it performs very well. Some extra coils would be a good idea, I linked the 1.2Ω coils, but you can get the .5Ω if you prefer.

With those items you (minus juice) you will be set gear-wise for a good while. Though backups are always recommended, but you want to see if this is going to work for you before you get into that.

I smoked for 26 years with no breaks for longer than a week and I haven't had a cigarette since the day I started vaping, 2 1/2 years ago. I can work for you.

Just make sure you find a good juice. I think that was half the reason I was able to get off analogs was the juice was satisfying. When I ran out of it and bought some juice froM the local tobacco store it just didn't do it for me and I contemplated going back to smokes. Instead I ordered more of the juice I actually liked and kept enough decent stuff on hand to avoid that situation from happening again

Thanks for the positive responses everyone.

I did get it with some Hawk Sauce juice, 2 Samsung Batteries and a Xtar VP4 charger for a bit of futureproofing in case this becomes serious.

My smoking has always bothered my SO and I hate trying to mask the smell of smoke. I find as I get older the smell is starting to bother me. I'm one of the very few people that smoke in my office. There have also been a few people who used to smoke that are now using vapes in the smoke pit.

For the recommendation for coils, what's the difference between the ohms? How long do coils normally last for and how often do they need replacing?

I hope all goes well with your setup!

I think you'll be fine as there are many people that have quit smoking using vaping but would have not been able to quit for 2 years cold turkey.

Plus, the new addiction to the vaping scene starts... Which in my opinion is way more addicting than cancer sticks. Haha.

And one heck of a lot safer and better for you.

Welcome to EFC! I'm glad to hear you using vaping to get off the death cancer sticks. I was a 1 to 2 to pack a day smoker for 40+ years, switched to vaping, and have been cigarette free for almost 2 months. Contrary to the massive packs of lies you read in the mass media crap, there are a lot of smokers quitting using vaping to get off the death sticks. we hope you're one! good luck!

I find the 1.2 ohm coils to provide a "cooler" vape (and I don't have to run power as high - 15-18W for me). The 0.5 ohm coils are "warmer" to me, and I usually run them around 18-22W. I get about 3-4 tanks from a coil before I consider rewicking it. If I'm doing a serious flavor change (e.g. bakery to chocolate or something non-complementary) I'll rewick sooner.

There are some good videos on how to rewick (and even rebuild if you're so inclined) the OCC heads. I use Japanese cotton pads (Shiseido, Koh Gen Do, etc.). I still have all my original coils that I got as far back as December.

The Subtank Mini also has the RBA portion (build your own), so when you feel comfy starting to build, you can pretty well go from anywhere between 0.5-ish to 2.0 or more. I build around 0.8-1.2 on my RBA deck.
