I received my order of the new JOYE 510 cartos in the mail this afternoon. I ordered them in Marb 12mg. My first impressions are very favorable. They are longer than the other brands of 510 cartos, in fact they are the same size as a 510 atty and cart put together. The eGo cone fits over the carto quite easily. The vapor production and flavor are very good. I've been using one for a few hours now and it is still working nicely. I haven't tried refilling them yet so I can't comment on that aspect. I am definitely going to order more of these in the future.

I too got my order of 510 blank cartomizers today and filled two of them with my favorite juices.

So far- wow! Great vapor, great flavor, very pleasing.

Will have to see how they hold up to make a decision... but they are very convenient.

I'm really happy with them. For me, they last just about as long as a Boge or SLB 510 carto does, which is a shift at work with a moderate amount of use. I found the refilling rather easy, none of this condom and spin stuff. The fill port hole seems a bit larger than on the mega cartos, and they are easier to hold over a bottle to catch the runoff. The only minor negative thing is that the inner cap is quite difficult, for me anyway, to catch hold of and remove for refilling. I will be using these for my carto needs in the future.

A bent paperclip made it work for me. But you are right, it isn't the easiest maneuver to pull off. I was sceptical about having to use a syringe... but with this performance I'll deal with it.

I got mine today and I was impressed! I used the condom method to refill, is that the preferred method with these?

I don't see me ever buying another SLB or BOGE, but perhaps I will try the ceramic ones. For VG heavy dark juice these things cant be beat!

*edit looks like you cant use the condom method :( thanx Geoduck for the info! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3Y1Usv4Zf4

I've also used the condom on metal end method with good success. The male metal end results in not getting those last few drops of juice forced into the carto, but if you use the same "condom" to fill a batch of cartos, there's little waste, and even those remaining drops of juice can be dripped one drop at a time into the hole in the metal tip of the carto. I've been using that method of refilling as well. It's a tad tedious, but I'm guessing no more tedious that most refilling methods. What you do is use a fill bottle the dispenses one drop at a time. Hold the cartomizer in one hand and the drip bottle in the other. Place one drop of juice on that hole in the male metal stub of the carto... it will soak into the hole in about a second or less. By that time another drop is coming out of the bottle, so nearly as quickly as the bottle dispenses drops, the carto sucks those drops into the wicking through that tiny hole in the threaded end. Takes about a minute to refill a carto this way, and that eliminates the collateral mess of the condom method making the cartos all wet and possibly spilling excess juice gushing out of the condom. Hope this helps.

me and alot of my friends are using these now. we all like them. i drip at home but for at work and in the truck. these are perfect. i fill with the bottle mod method.... works great. no wast and no seringe.
YouTube - bottle mod / carto fill

I keep experimenting with better ways to refill these genuine Joye cartomizers. I finally tried the syringe method cozzicon prefers. Not terribly difficult, but I still find it a pain to have to remove the mouthpiece and then the barrier piece below it to get to the fill port. So I just started trying something different last night, and it seems to work fine with a syringe... I just tossed the barrier piece aside, which allows me to insert the syringe directly into the hole in the mouthpiece and into the fill port! I was worried it might leak back into the mouthpiece, but it hasn't so far, and I carry my PV in my shirt pocket by itself, no case. And so far, no leaks!

I saw the post above, about the "bottle mod" and I had seen that video before, about using an air pump "needle" like you'd use to fill a football. That looks really easy, but requires a larger hole than the syringe I have. My syringe hole doesn't leak juice into the mouthpiece, and in fact it seems to allow for an easier draw, so you don't have to feel like you're sucking an egg out of a pinhole in the shell! So tonight I'm going to drill holes just large enough for the air-pump needle in both the mouthpiece and the fill port, and try attaching the air needle to a bottle, then insert that needle through the mouthpiece and into the fill port, without having to remove anything first for refills thereafter. I'm hoping the larger hole won't create a leakage problem. I'll post the results! :2cool:

hmmmm..... as exited as i am. i fear it will leak..... plz let me know how it turns out....

My first experiment with discarding the barrier piece has worked out fine! A small hole in the fill port for the syringe needle does not seem to leak back into the mouthpiece at all! I am able to insert the needle through the mouthpiece hole and then into the fill port without removing the mouthpiece at all. In fact, it helps guide the needle into the fill port. It does have the effect of increasing air with each drag, but my wife and I actually like it better that way. It draws very easily, and if the air to vapor ratio is too high, I can just cover up a couple of the air holes at the seam where carto and battery meet.

The next step, using an air pump needle, or football needle as I call it, required larger holes in both the mouthpiece and the fill port. The fill port was no big deal to accomplish, and again I experienced no leakage back into the mouthpiece. In order to use the football needle without removing the mouthpiece, however, required using a 5/16" drill bit to enlarge the mouthpiece hole. This was no big deal to do, but it adds another task to the modification of each cartomizer. It also added more air to the mix, although not drastically so. I think it's a worthwhile mod for those who don't want to use a syringe and also don't want to remove the mouthpiece each time they refill using the "bottle mod" method. The biggest drawback to that modification is that the football needle doesn't fit onto all juice bottles. The ones I got from DIY were too big for it. It might be worthwhile to transfer the contents of those bottles to ones that have the smaller mouth, but I don't need that hassle.

For me, I think it stops at eliminating the barrier piece and shooting the syringe right through the mouthpiece. That eliminates the need to remove pieces each time you need a refill. That was my primary beef with using a syringe to refill them instead of the condom method or just dripping juice into the battery hole, both of which will work if you don't have tools at hand.

lrd3.. nice job with that,, that is one way of doing it :D just be careful when sticking that thick blunt into the carto.. if you push to far you are liable to push the filler down squashing it into the element .. in turn decreasing the vaping performance of your carto... just a precaution that's all :)

srcowell.. nice to see that you tried the syringe out and can see how it works.. I have lost that middle piece before while out and about... so I also don't necessarily see the importance in having it there. Yes, you are apt to get more leakage and you get a bit of an airy draw, but if you are willing to put up with that I would say keep doing it :D...

Now I will admit that with my GenJoye carto that I lost the middle plug on... I still kept taking the top piece off.. probably out of habit... or just not thinking that "hey, I can just stick the needle through here as well" :p so I will remember your way should I lose one again :)

One thing for sure I am glad people are liking these... and though these are not my only vape.. I honestly enjoy using them frequently.

The only issue with removing the internal barrier piece is the increased possibility of sucking juice into your mouth. Since the air gallery is so long on these... it may not really be an issue.

I would think that if you remove the barrier, and then fill with the condom method, you would be at higher risk for sucking juice up the air gallery.

So that's my take. Apologies for the brevity- I'm not feeling well and am going to lay in bed comatose.

Looking at getting these Genuine Joye 510 Cartomizers and maybe I'm crazy but have no desire to refill. How long do these last out of the box?

I felt the same way until I tried it. Refilling is really not that difficult once you get the hang of it - and it's very much worth it with these cartos. With that said, a prefilled should last a moderate vaper around 5-6 hours.

I ordered a pack of 5. It was my first time with cartos and I had heard alot of good things about them. However each and every one seemed to give me some kind of extra taste with my flavors. An undesirable one. So they have gotten shelved. It stinks cause I can see the great convenience of them but I cant get past the flavor difference. I direct drip on a bridgeless atty so am I just spoiled or is there something Im doing wrong? I have used the condom fill method and syringe also with the same off taste results :(

It's probably the plastic casing giving you the extra taste when it gets hot. I recognize what you are saying, I think, and I guess I decided I didn't dislike it all that much, compared to the hassles I wish to avoid, and compared to my determination to stop thinking of a burning cigarette as something wonderful and desirable. Compared to avoiding the analogs, I'm willing to endure a few minor unpleasantries. And compared to the atty-plus-cartridge method, I'm strongly willing to compromise to avoid them. But still, if you can't get over the taste, which I kind of like nowadays, then do what you prefer. But among cartos, these are pretty highly rated. Having said that, if the plastic is what bothers you, perhaps a different brand would suit you better. Good luck, whichever you choose. :)

What voltage are you vaping at? These are made for Joye 510/eGo batts, so I could see anything over ~3.2 volts giving mixed results. Then again, I'm running mine through my 5V PT too, but I'm not sure of the exact voltage I'm getting out of it since I'm running it off my USB port on my desktop.
