Obviously a newbie here... Just got my Joye 510 starter kit in the mail. The atty consists of two pieces: a piece that has a coil in it and a mouth piece. I read the tutorial and it said that you're supposed to fill a mouthpiece.

But...... there is no filler inside! It is absolutely empty, I even poked inside with a toothpick. You probably gathered that I am not exactly technical.

So, what do I do?

Lucky, I also ordered some pre-filled mouthpieces. Do I keep refilling these? I am not confident I can do mods.

Oh, and another question. I am paranoid of directly getting liquid in my mouth and die from it. Any suggestions? Not for the fear of dying, but how to avoid getting (sucking in) the liquid.

Thanks guys!

welcome to the forum...

the mouth piece (cart) that comes on the atty is just a blank...keep it for a future cart mod... use a prefilled cart and refill that one with more liquid.

Dont overfill the cart and the chances of flooding the atty or getting the liquid in your mouth drop. but chances are, sooner or later you will get to taste it...it burns a little so you definately know when its there, just spit and drink something.

First off... Take a deep breath your not gonna die. Ok now once you put your prefilled cart on your atty you can take a deep breath off you new 510!. You can refill those carts w/ new 100% polyester batting. Thats what comes in the prefilled ones stock. Go to handcock fabrics or any craft store and get a piece of polyester big enough to last you a life time for about 39cents. other than that you can jus add a few drops of the extra e-liquid i hope you ordered, on top of the prefilled ones once they start to run dry

Don't be paranoid about getting juice in your mouth - you are unlikely to die from it - if it were 'very likely' I'd be dead several times over, and so would half the forum regulars.
Half the time its not juice but condensation but occasionally it might be actual juice - youd need about a pint of it at once to do you serious harm though. There was a post just the other day from someone whose puppy ate a full 24mg bottle of juice with no ill effects (though obviously no-one recommends you feed it to your dog...lol)
I've licked it off my fingers too (yeah we all do it, it tastes quite nice and its a one of those reflex action things lol), but I wouldn't DRINK it. Its not the 100% pure nicotine after all, so it although I wouldnt drink even the tiny amounts we put in a PV I don't worry about it either. You'll get juice on yourself at least once while you're learning to fill your own carts.
For now, just attach one of the pre-filled carts that hopefully came with your kit - those have juice already added (some are nice some ok some..yeah not great lol) and make sure you blow out the primer from the atty before you vape, and you should be good to go.

Personally I've been vaping for nearly a month, 10 May makes 30 full days for me... Getting juice in your mouth isn't the most pleasant experience I've had but I'm still here! I still get juice on my hands from time to time from refilling my carts and/or dripping.

I was a super caffeine and nicotine junky.

As for me: I have a caffeine stream, not a blood stream...

I get liquid in my mouth sometimes, but to be honest I kind of like it. The burn reminds me of smoking a pipe (my dad did for most of my life, so I have tried it) and I think it is rather tasty. Kind of sweet with a little spice.

Anyway, it is important to remember how little pure nicotine is in the liquid. It doesn't take much nicotine when inhaled (be it smoked or vaped) to feel the effects, and you would need to consume much more orally to poison yourself. Might make yourself a little sick if you were to drop straight in your mouth or something.

Everyone who asks about my ecig always gets scared by the liquid. The whole, nicotine is very lethal in relatively small doses thing I guess. I have a feeling though, that you would really have to try to get that small dose out of the carts or liquid.

Hi Jewel, I'm a 510 newb too, and the exact same questions crossed my mind. The filler I've used so far for the blank carts is lipton pyramid tea bags, emptied and cut in half. Search the forums for the "PTB" (pyramid tea bag) cart mod. It's done okay by me, but...

...I can't get it to not leak! I have gotten so much (18mg) liquid on my fingers, in my mouth, and all over my kitchen that I should rightfully be puking my intestines out by now. This hasn't happened (yet?), so I'm going to go ahead and say this stuff probably isn't that dangerous, provided you already have a decent tolerance to nicotine, don't spill too much at once, and don't get it on you too often. I'm also guessing the nicotine in e-liquid isn't concentrated or pure enough to wreak that much havoc if a few drops accidentally spill.

About to go fill some carts, so if I'm not back in this thread by tomorrow, assume I was proven wrong.

In the entire time I've been a member of this forum, 4 weeks, I have only heard of 17 people dying from getting liquid in their mouth. I'm sure the chances of it happening to you are small. ;)
