I am receiving 2 Joye Ego twist C 1000 mah batteries tomorrow. Right now I have a knockoff non VV Ego battery with a USB charger and USB to wall outlet connector.

Where I purchased the Joye Ego twist C batteries they have a note saying you must use the Joye USB charger. The specs for the charger read as follow:

  • Capacity: single port, Input voltage: DC 5V, Output voltage: DC 4.2V Max output, Current: DC 420mA (with cord)

My current charger has the same specs on it, plus I use the wall adapter so I don't have to turn on my computer to the battery.

Asking the experts do I really need the Joye adapter or are they just trying to sell me something I don't need?

Thank you and I hope I have asked the question correctly.

Those specs are the same as a Joye charger. If at some point you need another charger, you might pick up a Joye eGo one. The Joye batts have better short and charge protection than the knockoffs but I assume the charge protection in the chargers are the same, but the vendor is just relaying what the joyetech site says about their chargers:

Joyetech Products STATEMENT

That said, I've used non joye chargers on joye batts without a problem. I currently have only joye chargers.
