menu could be better but if its works properly and it seems it does then i like it, with this update the main complaints seem to be menu related and NOT performance related so performance is good and thats key and hopefully with firmware updates they improve the menu, looks good to me and kool concept of upgrading the firmware, im so happy we are at the point were there is many good wattage devices hitting the market at more affordable prices and its only just begun

like i said moma this is just the start, in time, maybe 4 months we will see devices with bigger screens that give you all the information and is easy to navigate, just look how far we have come on variable voltage ad variable wattage devices in just the last 4 months

the darwin is a beaut and a wonderful deivce but was hard to get and pricey and now similar devices all be it not exactly the same but still offer the wattage and voltage with tons of features for much better prices and everyone can have them.

A free market economy is a truly wonderful thing.

hehehe... much of the innovation is coming from China (an extremely tightly regulated and centrally supported market). Not exactly a result of a free market economy. Any type of economic system can respond to consumer desires (not that they always do effectively).

2 years agowe were wondering if top coils would make it and tubes cracking and only had 3.7 devices or 4.2 that drained down, and in these short 2 years we have come to what we have now, amazing
Downloadable firmware upgrades is really cool. I can't wait to see what the next year brings. The nice thing is that all I have to do to find out is check on your site.

Anything is possible when you have a workforce comprised of endless, cheap (and in some countries, free) labor. They innovate to meet demand very effectively, that's why we do business with Communists (you know, the old Enemy from a decade back) now.

This looks pretty awesome, but I do have concerns. My first question would be, how long can they guarantee support? I'd be all for this product, but not without something that shows they will provide product updates, I've had too many electronic products that claim to have support for firmware upgrades, but firmware upgrades are never released.

Also, when upgrading firmware on pretty much anything, there's a chance of bricking (destroying) the device in the process. Will they warranty the device if something goes wrong during the firmware upgrade? Is there a recourse if it goes wrong, or you don't like the new firmware, and want to go back to default?

As a corporate IT guy, I'm always skeptical on this kind of stuff, but it looks great so far :)

tschmek, I don't have one yet but I am downloading every firmware version that comes out so I will be able to step backwards. They also have a reset program on their site to set it back to original factory specs if the need arises. I am also sure there will be plenty of stateside versions of firmware hacks available if you are the adventurous type.
Nice to see a skeptical IT guy. Most of IT where i used to work would jump first and then go back to slooooooooowly fix it back to what it was.
Guaranteed support???? We are dealing with China. But a positive for JoyeTech is that they have already made a recall involving 4,901 units that may not fire correctly, so three cheers for them for stepping up quickly before most of them reached end consumers.
