It's aliveeeeeeeeeeee ....... frankenmod for sure.
Mine has been impec. v1.18 about 36-40º for device temp. vaping the s*** out of it since friday. Also have the tic-tic sound and high pitch whistle but only in NI or TI mode.

Did notice that it doesn't like coils with a low resistence (<0.10Ohm) kind of limits itself.... Using a 0.13Ohm in the mega tank modded with 2.5mm juiceholes and rayon for a change.......

beco
I get the same ticking and humming noise... Is that a bad thing hahaha...

I bought the black/red version about a week ago and so far I'm loving it. It's my first TC mod. I'm using it with the sub-tank mini with the Ni200 coils and it works great. I like the ego one mega tank that came with it, but those coils need better juice flow, at least for high VG juice. I haven't tried my 50/50 juices in it yet. With the sub-tank mini and high VG I did have to poke the stock coils with a pin on each side to help them, otherwise I don't get a consistent wet vape, get's a little dry at the end, but no burn, and that's what I love the most about TC. So right now I'm rocking the sub-tank mini with 50/50 kiwi watermelon. Yum Yum! I really like how in the morning I can adjust the temp down to around 480 and then pump it back up to 540+ with great results and kind of let my lungs wake up. Great flavor, great vapor, what else could I ask for?

I just picked up mine yesterday. I was able to get the black and red style. I am happy with how it is vaping. Not getting as much vapor as I do from my Herakles, but it is still a refreshing vape. I have a black subtank mini and may see about getting some Ni to make a couple coils, but not in a hurry to try it out.

My Evic showed up today.

Getting a good 1st impression. First I tried a Kanthal coil in an R91. It metered at 1.17Ωs on the Evic. On my other mod it read 1.2Ωs - good enough! Vaping it at 12.5 watts was comparable to it on an iStick 50 at 14 watts. No complaint there - who knows which mod is more accurate for a given power setting. It worked and vaped fine - that's a win I won't complain about.

Then I switched to a KFL-Lite w/ a .14Ω Nickel coil when attached to a DNA40 mod. It read .13Ω on the Evic and it's been holding steady there. I've got it set for 30 watts and 410 F. Its vaping comparable to the DNA. It does flash 'temp protect' but keeps on firing at low watts (well below 30 watts). You can watch the watts change as it's trying to maintain the 410 F setting.

Only been using the nickel coil for about an hour ... but the Ωs are holding steady. Another win. Oh yeah, I didn't 'lock' the atty/Ωs. I want to vape it unlocked for awhile ... then let it cool way down and try again with it locked.

Yikes! Even my wife likes it and thinks the black w/ red stripes it good looking. I thought for sure it would be too heavy for her. She like's her iStick 50's and the Evic is a bit bigger and 2+ ounces heavier.

I'm hoping my first impression holds. Tomorrow I'll try the TI CLR heads in the matching atty. Tonight I was more curious how it worked w/ known builds/attys.

I hate to say this but I sold both of my Evics. Mine kept hitting temp protect too quick and it was reading my ohms incorrectly.
Saying the VT hit your set temperature too quickly is like saying a VW device hits your set wattage too quickly. I leave mine on 60watts and adjust the temp to my liking.

Misreading ohms is definitely a problem though

What type of coils were you using? I had that issue in a tank using contact ti coils. ripped it out and rebuilt with standard and it's been gravy every since. tc devices are very different from vv/vw mods and there is a learning curve to get things right. it's hard to believe you had 2 bad ones because I have 2 good ones once I set them up right.

Guess I'll chime in..

Mine is still holding a solid .52 ohms ti and has not budged a bit since first reading. I installed it with the cold lock method.

I only had issue the first day or two till I figured out how it all worked, and caught a loose coil screw.

If your hitting temp protection too fast you may need to lower your wattage so it doesn't heat too fast to the limit. If you normally vape under 30w you will be vaping with straight temp control. It's not a problem. But tc is a little different to get used to anyway.

If you vape over 30w typically. It is possible to get the power and temp set such that temp protect doesn't kick in till the end of your vape. And like this, it vapes like kanthal meaning straight power.

Kind of related. With my Lemo using the stock drip tip I really noticed the temp control cycling. Now I'm using my subtank mini and I don't notice it as much. My guess is the STM wide drip tip (which I used to hate) allows a little slower velocity as well as some mixing so you don't feel the cooling/warming as much. I put my mini pro tank 3 tip on there and it was noticeable again.
