so this popped up on my fb feed: Åŵ¤¼°¤¿¤Ð¤³¥Í¥Ã¥ÈÈÎÇ䤨¡¡Ìȵö²èÁüÅÐÏ¿¤ÇÀ®¿Í¤«È½ÃÇ ¡ÊÄ«Æü¿·Ê¹¥Ç¥¸¥¿¥ë¡Ë - Yahoo!¥Ë¥å¡¼¥¹

for those with crappy japanese,... in a nutshell, as i my japanese is carppy too,...

from the 12th of december JT will be selling these things from a dedicated website,.. i think.

the e-cig itself will cost 3,500 and the "pods" as they call it will be 460 a pop and will contain nicotine. other than that there's almost no other info apart from you'll need to send them a photo of a picture id confirming your age.

do these look familiar to anyone? rebadged stuff or something new?

"tobacco flavour" i wonder how bad that will taste :p

I went to the ploom site in Austria and it is basically a cigarette. But if JT is embracing new forms of "smoking" it won't be long until other vaping devices emerge in addition to ejuice with nic.
I kind of liken it to the apple book store and amazon books. There were no ebooks allowed to be sold until pressure was paced on the Japanese publishers to release their hold on the market to allow ebooks to be sold, then everything was available. It took two years for ebooks to be widely available from their start in the US and Europe.
Consumers get what they demand eventually.
The trick is for JT to get people to like them. They have to taste better then the crap they sell now, make it look cool and get big name "talents" to use them and like them. Then consumers will follow like sheep and want more.

Hmm, now I'm curious to see what vaping actual tobacco leaves is like. Not curious enough to buy that crap but still sounds cool.

I would far rather have my own ejuices, and am somewhat concerned that Japan Tobacco may force through their own products and use their political connections to enforce a monopoly over the market... But this, I think is good news overall... Will be buying this.

The reviews on YouTube sound like it's just like smoking. And the FAQs on the American site said 10 minutes for a pod.
I guess it's BigT's way of trying to stay relevant and keep selling real tobacco.

I just don't think they are going to get their customers back until they give up on the leaves and embrace juice as the next big thing. If they spent their big money lobbying for ecigs and developing better batteries and top qualities juices, they would be o.k. There are still places in the world that love the leaves and there will always be smokers. (i.e. Japan)
