Juice delivery system : Which one is best for me?

Ever since I outgrew pen style ecigs I have been using clearomizers. I worked my way up slowly to what I thought was the Holy Grail of clearos, the protank 2 (mini). Honestly I am disappointed. Way too finicky/fiddly. They always seem to have some kind of problem. They don't feed fast enough without removing a wick, but then they leak. I am constantly dealing with burning, leaking, or breaking, along with the funky metallic taste.

Where do I go from here?
I tend to like the flavors that eat plastic. I need to have something fairly sturdy, wife dropped and broke her PT within a week. I don't want to have to spend more time fixing /adjusting than vaping. Is there anything that just works? Oh yeah, without costing too much.

Well, there are going to be options that "just work" for some folks, and other folks utterly HATE the same method. So, fair warning, you are likely going to get a lot of opinions based on everyone's personal experience and preferences, which vary from person to person.

With that said, "what works for me" are glass/pyrex carto-tanks. By putting a carto that is well suited for a particular liquid and power level (which involves some trial and error around number of coils, resistance, holes/slots, etc.) into a pyrex/glass tank means that the carto (once you've found one that works particularly well will a particular liquid) is going to maintain a proper level of saturation as long as you have liquid in the tank. That means (at least in my personal experience) a solid and consistent vape for the entire life of the carto. In essence, it's an "auto-fill" system for a cartomizer. The fact that the tank is glass/pyrex means that it is going to be impervious to any liquid you put into it.

Again, just my personal experience, and you will likely hear from someone (or a bunch of people) who have had poor personal experiences with carto-tanks. Which is understandable. We're all different and have different expectations, tastes and preferences. The best advice that I can offer is to take everyone's varying recommendations into account, and if someone can not only tell you what they prefer, but can explain WHY they prefer it, use that additional information to help you to make an informed choice when you try your next head.

Check these out. They are darn near bullet proof. No leaking or breaking. Been using one for nearly 3 years and it is still as strong as the day I got it. As for the price, it paid itself off in the first month based on what I would have spent on smokes.

I have heard nothing but high-praise for IkenVapes cartos, though because they are in limited supply, I've yet to order/try them.

Some folks swear by Boge's, some swear AT them. The same is true of SmokTek cartos. In my (limited and personal) experience, it's a matter of vaping methods and habits (which are very personal). How hard/much someone draws, the type of hit, the vapor temp, the taste, are all going to be variables that we each sort out for ourselves. Personally, I am still working out what particular cartos "work best" with some of my liquids. It's a "start at a default or best guess and then if it is less than positive in that carto, alter the carto specs to try to overcome or correct the shortcoming".

Which (I admit and confess) is counter to what you were asking for (something simple that "just works"). Please don't get me wrong. It is possible to get a solid and satisfying performance out of a "typical" carto-tank setup, but just like folks tweak their VG/PG mix, their voltage and wattage, there is also "room for improvement" when it comes to refining your carto-tank experience as well. They can be "plug-and-play" but they also can appeal to those who like to tinker (a little).

I have burnt coils while I wait for the mail to deliver new ones and constant leaking because I removed a flavor wick to stop the burning. It's not being fun right now. I honestly don't know what to do to make it live up to my expectations. I worked my way up to a PT over 6 months because everyone raved over them but I could only afford evods and the like. I just want to make this enjoyable and get past the money pit stage.

I got a couple of Smoktech AROs about a month ago. They look like an EVOD only larger and they are pyrex. Really good vapor production and taste. I haven't had any wicking problems at all. You can get one for about $8 at most places. They are EGO threaded only though. I probably had it flood once when my battery was getting low and not vaporizing the fluid well but other than that pretty good. I use mostly 50/50 liquid btw.

I remember feeling like that - it almost made me want to quit vaping.

Nowadays I have several quality mods and build my own RBAs and RDAs, and it's all good. After the initial expenditure, everything really did fall into place, and I'm actually saving money while enjoying the hobby a great deal.

To get the best out of your flavors, you'll want to drip or get a bottom feeder. There is a little bit of a learning curve (especially with dripping), but once you get the hang of it it's the most hassle free way to vape there is. As far as the bottom feeders go, I own a vmod, which is all in all a good vape, but after checking out a reo I've come to the conclusion that it's definitely worth the extra money if the budget will allow. I've heard great things about the bogger and redsky mods but haven't tried them myself.

Dripping is the best tasting of all......If you have a good driping atomizer. Carto's are the next best thing and less hastle free (to me) With that said. The best carto set up............................

Carto set up: IBTanked Pyrex Tank.. https://www.ibtanked.com/complete-tanks You cant buy a better quality tank for the money. These tanks wont leak and the Pyrex is about three times the thickness of the Protanks.

Order the Smoke carto's on the same site. Get the 3.2 Ohm Smok single coil, dual hole lazer punched cartos. Order 20 @ 1.35 each. As mentioned, Ikenvapes are very good when you an get them. Ive also had alot of luck with the Smok 3.2 Ohm

Go find Baditude s blog ( member here on the forums) on carto's and read that.

Switching from my 8 protanks to these particular tanks is one of the best things that I have done, MUCH better taste. Ease of use etc..
There is a slight learning curve to the proper set up of your carto (as in filling it properly called priming).

I will second the carto tank suggestion! Recently moved on to one if those after being pretty ok with the Evods, and it's been a huge improvement! The Texas Tuff Tank from vape dudes would be a good place to start, they don't cost much more than an Evod clearo, are polypropylene (won't crack) and have a side fill screw. I haven't tried the TTT yet, but it looks nearly identical to the triple v tank I have been using. Most people will say the grommet style tanks are a massive pain, but with the side fill you'll hardly ever have to deal with reassembling, which isn't terribly difficult to begin with. For cartos I've been using Boge SR with two holes and 65/35 pg/vg juice and have yet to get a dry hit. I would prefer the LR cartos for use on my mech, but other than that it's been a great experience without much of a lurning curve

I like the Smok DCT. I bought a Pro Tank 2 to try out, and have pretty much ditched it all together for the same reasons you listed. I dont mind tinkering really, but its gotta pay off. Even with the tinkering and trying of things people mention Im still not pleased with the performance...

Those look nice. How much does the tank hold? Website only says large capacity.

I eventually want to get a couple from IBTanked (really sweet) but I will probably have to wait a bit and make do with a more budget friendly model in the meantime. Probably this or the TTT. Just broke my budget getting us a pair of new mods.

I've tried a little a bit of everything, including T2's, Pro Tank, UniTank, Iclear 30, V-Fate, Igo-L RDA, and a Smok Carto tank. (amongst several others that are escaping me or not worth mention)

For me, the bottom coil style clearomizers like the Pro Tank don't work well. I tend to flood them and they seem airy. Thicker juices seem to gum up the coil quickly and I'm constantly fussing with them.

The V-Fate has been a good clearomizer. I like that it's top fill, dual top coil. It seems to work consistantly and flavor is good. But I find the draw to be heavy.

My favorite for at home is the Igo-L RDA on my Innokin SVD. But then you get into the hassle of needing to rebuild the coils, and dripping and mods isn't for everyone.

What you might enjoy is a carto tank. I like the easier draw and the vapor and flavor is fantastic. It is slightly more involved then filling a clearomizer, but the result has been worth it. I've been using the Smok carto tank on a 1300mah battery with great results, and it now the one for me for on the go.
