With a liquid that starts out clear it is oxidation of the nic that results in most of the color change. To see the change, put the liquid in a glass bottle or plastic bottle that is in a well sealed plastic bag. Place this in a pan of water than is maintained at 140 degrees for 2-4 hours (speed steeping) and the color will change. The same can be done in an ultrasonic cleaner with 140 degree water.

I have liquids with flavor and color that does not change with steeping. They remain clear and the coils last, and last. Makes me happy.

One of the flavors I mentioned is FW licorice. Stays clear. No gunky coils. It is a sweet licorice which should gunk the coils rather quickly but it doesn't. I've been vaping it for 6 months and it remains consistent. The other is Vape Wild Creme de Menthe. It is very slightly yellow in the bottle. Looks clear in a clearomizer. Coils last a long time.
