As a vaper who hardly even knows who else vapes in my city, in one single day I received three separate medical opinions (from those obviously who went not to medical school) about vaping and its negative impacts on the health ranging from pneumonia to cancer.

I advocate non-violence, but i think the media has us beat as they have ignant mf's on their side.

I just read up on the main things the media has said about them and prepared rebuttals :)

Formaldehyde: Under normal circumstances it was not present in vapor, only when the coil was run at voltages beyond what it is designed for can it be produced.
Diacetyl: I mix my own juice none of my flavors contain it.
Antifreeze: Did you know that propylene glycol has been used in Nebulizers and Inhalers for many years and is one of the few ingredients in the liquid that is approved to inhale?

Blah blah blah.. I've read the majority of the studies on them I can counter most...

I have at least one person every week tell how they are worse than smoking. Ive just got to the point that I tell them, "yep and I believe everything I read on the internet to"
They want you to go back to smoking because you were paying a lot of taxes they don't pay. I was spending $3,000 on a carton a week. Most of that went for taxes. My cost of ingrediants for a year supply of DIY is $30. If everybody stopped smoking there would be a lot of problems for governments. So if you are a real patriot, if you love your nation, you'll give up that nasty vaping habit and go back to smoking and paying your taxes.

I don't give a flip about the government's problems, it's their job to solve problems. They caused this problem for themselves by using taxes to control people, which has been shown to be a really rotten idea. Maybe they should stop trying to control us and start serving us as they were hired to do in the first place.

It makes me quite happy and satisfied to be not a smoker any more but one of the sweet pleasures is knowing I'm denying our dear government the thing they are most addicted to, our money.

I'm torn between genuine counter-argument and the subtle comment of "minding your own business is good for your health" too.

The problem I am talking about is one that is set in its ways. Talking to a brick wall, or even less stressful, punching your own head repeatedly.

Sure, those who have common sense will agree providing scientific research that has been peer-reviewed is the best bet.
Alas, majority of the conflict we encounter is pure ignorance with the goal of reassuring their beliefs; it isn't about being right.

I ask alot of people "Who told you that and why?". If you honestly think that burning tobacco leaves is a better idea and less harmful than what I'm doing, you really need to read more on the subject. My primary care doctor and my CARDIOLOGIST think my vaping is a good idea.

This is what many anti-vapers hear when you counter with an accurate explanation of vaping. But we have to keep trying ... :(

If it wasn't for the money at stake everybody would love ecigs and the inventor would get the Nobel prize in medicine. Ecigs are a supreme test of honor and integrity in government. They and their tax supported cronies are failing miserably. Public comments are from people who are thinking only of their political and economic loyalties.

So the 60-something woman who berates you for vaping because she saw on the news that it's "dangerous and potentially harmful" is solely being motivated by her political-economic loyalties?
Logic: missing.
Cynicism: in full force.

First, she doesn't care a whole lot in the first place. If the news sources and associates she trusts told her ecigs were a great thing she would support them. Either way her support is shallow and uninformed. Supposedly personal liberties get some protection from the mob. Public health also gets the same protection, except, apparently, when SO much money is in play.

I'm not arguing about the misinformation factor involved. Context of the thread is comments coming from people on the street, not the political/governmental realm.
Public comments are from people who are thinking only of their political and economic loyalties.
Yes, it would seem so.

The only people who are set in their ways are those with closed minds.
And the vast majority of the public has closed their minds on us.

This is due to decades of brainwashing...
Rampant Antismoking Signifies Grave Danger

As vapers, we have only two choices available to us going forward...
--Roll over and play dead like we did as smokers
--Educate, expose, change the game

I'll keep on trying to do the latter, but I'm not sure it can happen.
The brainwashing runs deep, and the efforts never cease.

I put the ultimate blame on the media, rather than those that feed them.
The media long ago forgot what their primary purpose really is.
