Just curious... Why "e-cigarette" in the title?

For the sake of accuracy... "e-cigarette" is an oxymoron. I will never refer to it as such, but if that's what you prefer, rock it! :)

I just remembered, for the sake of accuracy, you could call it a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System, or just use the acronym for short. :D

I still have an Motorola Razor cell phone. Truth be told, I miss using it! Smart phones do a lot more, but the Razor is much cooler looking IMO. I don't use my iPhone SE for anything other than conversation, so I wouldn't miss the texting feature. The only thing that keeps me from going back to the Motorola Razor, is my bluetooth Star Trek Communicator. I have to link it to my iPhone for it to be of any use.

Why e-cigarettes? Oh ... I dunno. Maybe it's because I smoked cigarettes for 44 years, tried to quit for 36 of those years, and finally finally finally was able to quit by switching over to electronic cigarettes. So the contraction to e-cigarettes didn't bother me in the least. Personally I just shorten the name to e-cigs. Regardless ... whatever the device(s) are called ... they are opposed by The Bigs: Big tobacco and Big Pharma (and whoever takes The Bigs' money to oppose e-cigs). Go ahead ... change the name to Personal vaping Devices. The Bigs will be against them then too. Bought and paid for politicians (on the Right and the Left) will oppose anything The Bigs tell them to, regardless of the name.

What we can do, at every opportunity, is educate, educate, educate. On every level. Friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, bosses, and especially our city, state, and Federal reps. Everybody has to know how we were able to quit smoking by switching over to e-cigs. Everybody has to be made aware of the countless, baseless, negative stories (funded directly or indirectly by The Bigs) so the wanna-be-ex-smokers have the freedom to choose to use something that is TEN TIMES more effective than the patch, gum, or lozenges, when it comes to quitting smoking.

When you see a bullsh*t article about e-cigs in print or on The Internet ... WRITE BACK. The Bigs have more money than all of us combined. But all that money can't silence our voices. If. We. Use. Them.

Yet when people began vaping in 2007, people didn't know what to call it and terms were thrown around for ideas..(some people were calling it smoking, others wanted a more appropriate term). there was a thread on it but with the forum change I cannot find it now... it was in one of the earliest threads on this forum where it was discussed.

There was a huge disconnect between the 1970's and when vaping actually began... 30 years.

Yeah I remember that

It is what it is.

When I told my physician that I had quit smoking using an ecig, he wrote in my chart, "****** has quit smoking by using a water pipe." Go figure.

When I talked to my doctor he was happy I quit smoking but keeps asking me when I am going to quit vaping...........not going to happen lol Just another doctor that thinks nicotine is bad.
But a year ago I had a lot of xrays done .....he now says my lungs are lungs of a non smoker.......positive move there :)

Yeah, same happened to me. About 6 weeks after I quit smoking thanks to vaping, I proudly announced to my co-workers at the hospital what I had accomplished. They all congratuated me, but every surgeon and nurse always asked when was I planning on quiting the vaping?

Of course, I said never. "But you're still using nicotine!"

I replied, "Show me the studies that nicotine is harmful. Studies say it's the smoke in burning cigarettes that causes cancer and COPD. Nicotine is no more harmful than that pot of caffeine you drink all day."

Stone silence.

I had one of those, it was the best, sync my calendar with the computer and the battery did last forever. Great applications, I kept family law statues on the memory - always with me. I now use an LG flip and returned to a paper calendar. But I have slowed considerably.

The only old flip phone I miss is this one. The battery lasted a week. The Palm Pilot worked well.

Facts are confusing confounding things that shake one's cherished beliefs, even among the "scientific" medical community.

There is nothing better than "turning" a non-vaper doctor into a believer... Especially when they tell you it's bad. If I could afford the copay, I'd go back to my ENT, sing him a few scales (I could barely talk when I went) then ask if he'd like to "scope" my throat. LOL. He probably would too, only I don't see the point, other than vaping as I sang. Perhaps the song, "Believer." (The millennial anthem, Imagine Dragons, who happen to be the few pop bands that I actually enjoy.... although it's hard to admit. Or maybe "Demons." LOL.

Please support the vaping community by editing the title of this forum.

I don't think so.

The discussion concerning the usage of "e-cigarette" was waged in this forum back when the primary topic of discussion concerned how to get these darn things to work consistently. Back before vaping became mainstream.

"E-cigarette" is embedded within world consciousness now. It will forever be associated with vaping, as there will always be people who will consider vaping a threat.

We get where you're coming from...your heart is in the right place...but your effort might be more productively directed toward something else.
