I just recently flew to Las Vegas for the week. I went from Midway airport in Chicago to McCarran airport in Las Vegas on Southwest. I had no issues with the TSA's in either airport. I was using my Kgo's with Smoktech XL cartos and drip tips. I had several cartos prefilled and extra batteries in a case in a side compartment of my backpack and left 1 Kgo fully assembled. I just packed extra juice and cartos in my checked baggage. None of the TSA's gave it a second look. Sweet!! Once inside the terminal at Midway, I was rather wary of using it though. I had on a fleece jacket and kept it tucked just into the sleeve after passing the security checkpoint. I was easily able though to grab quick puffs and double breath and slowly exhale. When I wanted a hit, I tried to hide as much of it in my hand using my middle finger to activate the button and holding my thumb up along the rest to hide as much of the carto and drip tip as possible. I would only hold the button down until I felt a throat hit, then release the button while still puffing to make sure I pulled all the vapor into my mouth. Even with my VG based juices, this worked rather well with minimal vapor coming out on exhale. I travelled with my fiance and I think this helped with my success on the plane. Once onboard the Southwest flight, I grabbed a window seat and she sat in the middle seat right next to me along with some random guy sitting in the aisle seat. He never saw me vape. The crew never mentioned electronic cigarettes during the safety speech but there was a mention of them being prohibited on the safety card and in their magazine. Big deal... I just tried to act natural anytime I dealt with the crew, maintaining eye contact when talking with them and not like I was doing something sneaky. I was able to stealth vape all the way there and all the way back with the double breathing technique. While in Vegas, I pretty much had no issue vaping normally anywhere and especially at any of the casinos. We stayed in a non-smoking room at the Hilton Grand Vacations and had no issues of vaping in there as well although I made sure it wasn't obvious to the staff. We even did a tour of the Hoover Dam and South Rim of the Grand Canyon which was about 14 hours total. On the bus though, I just stealth vaped again and I was fine. It would have been extremely difficult to have done this trip if I was still using analogs but I made it through the whole trip with no jitters. Success!!! On the plane trip back from Vegas though, the S/O wanted the window seat and I got stuck in the middle seat. I had some random guy sit next to me in the aisle seat. We talked for a little while and he eventually put on earphones to listen to his ipod and closed his eyes. I was then able to stealth vape most of the way home and I don't think he ever caught on to what I was doing. At least he never said anything.
I think I am now ready for longer flights. The flight out to Vegas was about 4 hours and the flight back was a little over 3. I think I would be ok now on the 8-1/2hour nonstop to Hawaii. The last time I went to Hawaii about 10 years ago, we stopped in California and I just had the overwhelming need to get outside to grab an analog. I did so because we had enough time between flights but it was such a pain having to deal with the security check points and luckily it wasn't too busy. The leg from California to Honolulu was worse and I had a hard time just sitting still in the seat. The first thing I had to do upon landing was puff down 2 analogs before even going to get the luggage. I should have tried grabbing some nicorette gum for the trip but didn't think it would help. But now I am ready. I think next time though I may try to use the 650mah ego batteries and regular cartos because they would be much smaller and easier to conceal but the Kgos worked out very well.
