Hey all, so I just upgraded from an ego set up to a Vamo v5 earlier this week, and while I have the gist of how it works, I still have some questions regarding the menu. For instance, I could access "2. LCD Display" but can't for the life of me figure out how to actually check the battery/resistance/voltage. Apart from that, the function seems to working well. However, there will be multiple times when it will shut down on it's own. I'm thinking it could possibly be the batteries I'm using atm (the gray 18350 minis). THere will be times where it will work fine for a while, so it seems that the batteries may not have as long a life as I thought. (it takes about ~2 to fully charged as I noticed). This is day two of actually having it. (I bought it from misthub)

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
-Tom

To see the battery level, just push your power button and look at the screen while you hold it.It will say 4,2,3.7,etc. depending what level the battery is at.To set your voltage, use the 2 small buttons, and just click either way,it should show the number going up or down.To see resistance, while facing the screen, hold the small button at the right for a few seconds, and the resistance will show up.

Hold left small button for 3 secs for battery voltage.

Hold right small button for 3 secs for atomizer resistance.

Hold both small buttons for 3 secs to access menu functions such as changing from voltage to wattage and changing display.

The occasional shutoff could possibly be due to your bottom cap spring being slightly compressed and when you set down the unit the battery temporarily loses connection to the top (inside) contact. You can try to slightly stretch out the spring and see if the problem persists.

Menu/button functions:
How to use:

1. Click the big button 5 times to turn the unit on (or off).
2. Pressing the - button for 3 seconds displays battery voltage. Pressing the + button for 3 seconds displays the working resistance.
3. Single pressing of the +/- will increase or reduce with 0.1V or 0.5W increments depending on power mode.
4. Press and hold down the + and - buttons at the same time to enter the Menu. Once in the menu the top right or + button will advance thru the menu and the top left or - button will change that menu setting. There are only 3 function settings in the Menu.

Menu functions:
Menu 1: Hold down both +/- buttons and it enters at Menu 1 and says Power/Voltage. Use the left button to set to either Voltage or Power output. Power output is beneficial in that regardless of your atomizer resistance, the unit will hold constant Power setting for the same vape. You forget about voltage as the unit adjusts that behind the scenes to hold the Power constant.

Menu 2: Once in the Menu by holding +/- buttons advance to menu 2 by pressing the top right or + button. Menu 2 will say LCD Display and then pressing the top left or - button will allow you to switch what is shown on the screen while vaping. You can choose Power(voltage if set from menu 1), Resistance, or Battery. If set to power it will show your setting in Watts (or Voltage if output set to voltage) during vaping. Resistance will show the Atomizer resistance, Battery just shows the current charge of your battery.

Menu 3: Once in menu from holding +/- press top right or + until you get to Menu 3 and it will say LCD On/Off. This menu function just allows you to turn the OLED on or off during vaping

5. Press the big button to operate the unit.

6.To turn off, click the big button 5 times.

7. Battery monitoring shuts the unit off once battery has reached end of charge.

8. LCD displays LO-Ω if resistance lower than 1.2ohm, LO-V if short circuit.
(Menu provided for by smoktek.com)

The grey batteries are generally not the best batteries around. I do not use 18350 batteries so I don't have a source.
However, once you do find one, or one is provided for you, please ensure you do not get protected batteries.
Vamo's Do Not Like Protected Batteries.

You may want to check your end cap spring to make sure it's extended. a reduced spring could also be an issue causing the Vamo to shutdown on you.

I have had problems with mine turning off at odd times, also, and I just turn it back on. Sometimes it turns off because the battery needs to be recharged, but it tells me "Low V." Other times it turns off, I just turn it back on. There are some times that I have had to pound the button many many times to get it to turn back on, but nothing more than a nuisance. If it gets to be more than a nuisance, contact your vendor.

I use https://www.fasttech.com/products/1594202
Anyvape Mini Davide Glassomizer $12.99 - VividSmoke.com
and
https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005660/1516103-u-dct-carto-tank-3-5ml

I am in the process of retiring my CE5's. Too many dry hits.

Yeah, the Mini Davide is glass. I like the form-- sleek. Most of my stuff comes from FT anymore, but I couldn't get anything like it to come up at FT. I got mine (I have three) at Discount Vapers.

"Low V" is, I think, standard. When batteries over-discharge, it shortens battery life. Therefore, the APV shuts down when the battery gets to around 3.2V. I can tell before then, however, because it just doesn't produce as much.

Hi, I've had my V5 for at least a month now. I'm pretty sure it works best with button top batteries. I have Efest 800 mah 18350 batteries, they're good. Look on E bay for the best price. I have read where people sometimes have problems with it turning off unexpectedly. I've also had a problem with shorts as the 510 connector does not have a floating center pin. Don't screw your atty's on too tight! Overall I'm happy with it, using a Kayfun lite clone now - nice! Hope that helps. Focalecig.com has them on sale now for $20.90! Wow! :D oh, low v just means your battery needs to be charged.

Just got a Vamo V5 on the focalecig "Group Buy" (for $19.90 delivered). Not sure if this thread is still "alive"

Sometimes it turns off because the battery needs to be recharged, but it tells me "Low V."

Does it show "Low V" after it shuts off???

I'm pretty sure it works best with button top batteries.

From reading the various battery threads on ECF it appears that it can take either kind...but most posters seem to recommend flat-tops.

"Cheapest" ones I found:

18650:

Amazon.com: Two Panasonic NCR18650B 3.7V 3400mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries QTY 2: Electronics

(Click on "9 new from" and you can find same price with FREE shipping without the $35 limit...eg. Safetymind.)

18350:

Amazon.com: (2 Pieces) IMR 18350 800mah 3.7v High Drain Li-mn Rechargeable Battery with Flat Top: Health & Personal Care

(Click on "8 new from" and you can find same price with FREE shipping without the $35 limit...eg. Safetymind.)

Clearomizer I love...Kanger T3S...cheap ($2.90), replaceable coil heads, foolproof

$2.90 T3S Electronic Cigarette Round Mouth Clearomizer (2.4ml) - translucent / 2.3
