Just got my first eGo, am I doing something wrong?

Hello all!

I started vaping with a Vype disposable, then I got a SkyCig, then a Cigees. I was pleased with all of these but wanted to try an eGo, so I got the CE5 from Cigees and it came today.

I'm not sure if there's something wrong with it, if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's completely normal, but it's really, really harsh. Harsher than any of the e-cigs I've tried before (I usually go with high nic too). It kinda burns in an unpleasant way, not in a satisfying throat hit way.

Do they need longer to warm up? Am I possibly inhaling the liquid before it's completely atomised?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

No, that really doesn't sound normal at all.
Perhaps you burned your coil if you didn't let it soak long enough?
Try a different tank if you have one

After you put the liquid in how long did you leave it to soak?
I usually swill mine around in the tank so it coats the wick then leave it to stand for a good half hour to get it nice and soaked.

If you have done this too quick you may have burnt the wick

My dh bought me my first ego kit. The juice they sold him was discusting and the nic level was too high for me.

What kind of juice are you using? Nic Level?

Did you let the juice set in the tank for a few minutes, to let it soak up?

The batteries are probably unregulated, which means that they start off at 4.2 volts and as the charge dwindles, they go down to 3.3-3.4 Volts. Try pulsing the power when they are freshly charged. That means that as you take a hit, Press the button for 1 second, release for 1 second, press for 1 second, etc. as you are taking the hit. Once the battery goes to under 4V, you can keep the button pressed for the whole hit.

I can't keep all the CE4/CE5/with or without wicks/etc. straight. This is the one that's basically a cart inside a tank, right? I personally can't stand those things although tons of people like them (probably because they're the old-school standard). They always taste burnt to me as well (even when I try friends who have been puffing on them all night).

I would try a nice clearomizer tank setup. For smaller devices I like the Kanger mini ProTank 2 - really gives me a better hit and never tastes burnt (unless I accidentally run it at 11 watts when it should be on 6 for most of the juices I like.

I'll give another tank a try; it sounds like I got over-excited... I didn't really give it any time to soak at all. It never even occurred to me. So next time I should give it a swill and leave it for a while, right?

I'll keep the battery pulsing in mind, too

Another thing to keep in mind. Sometimes the e liquid can be too thick to wick properly. I find adding a couple drops of water and shaking the tank, then setting it aside for a few minutes helps.

I smoked roll-ups and merrily puffed away on useless and over-priced look-a-likes before discovering eGo e-cigs. They make more vapour and are harsher to the new user (compared to skycigs or Vype... which are both a rip-off by the way...). You need to adjust your vaping style more when you get a stronger and more powerful e-cig.

What made you switch...? You made the right decision for your pocket (££) but they might take getting used to.

I doubt cigees is a great long-term bet, but an eGo battery is an eGo battery, as long as it works.
Is the spelling exactly the same as you've written it?

Yep it was a starter kit, exactly that name. I would link it but I can't use them in my posts yet.

Hmm this did cross my mind. I switched because it's cheaper and a little less hassle -- I seemed to be forever buying cartomizers with my SkyCig etc.

Yes.. it's bad. I spent £300+ on stupid cartomizer systems. I cut down from about 15-18 to about 12 (at best).

Those type are useless.

Why not buy yourself a nice clearomiser or two from Myepack. They are the cheapest and best for this sort of thing.

I used the most expensive brand in the UK. £3.99 per cartomiser. I've since worked out even if they do 300 puffs or something, the nicotine is about half a pack of "lights". Basically, they are a scam.

looks like the 1100mah that I started with, found out a month later that it was variable voltage, check the manual. Do you click it 5 time to turn it off and on? If so try it, if the button light changes color then it's adjustable voltage, red is 3.5, purple is 3.8 and blue it 4.2. The only thing I hated about that was it took 10 clicks to get it to higher voltage or up to 15 clicks to turn it off.

You can get 2.8 ohm clearomizers that will work with the eGo if you find the standard ones are too harsh. There's also variable voltage eGo batteries- this is probably the better solution as then the resistance of your clearomizer won't matter that much. Turning the voltage down to 3.4 volts and working up from there is the way to go.

Good to know! I tried the whole push the button five times thing with mine, all it did was turn the safety on and off. I'll look into all this, and I think I'll take a step down with the juice strength too

Next time prime your tank cover all the air holes at bottom of tank and blow through one while pulsing the button
