Hey guys. I have been smoking pack a day for the last decade or so.

I've tried going cold turkey but I just could not do it. So yesterday, I went ahead and purchased my first ever e-cigarette (C Twist kit).

Anyways, after trying it for a full day, I have some questions for the experts out there.

- What I am inhaling..is it smoke or vapor? If it's vapor, does this mean that this is like the same thing as the vapor that comes out of humidifiers? I've noticed that the "smoke" is nearly odorless, and even when I smoke indoors, people can barely notice it.

- I noticed that, if I increase the voltage on my C Twist, it makes the boiling sound. Meaning, when I hit it with high voltage, I can hear the liquid "boiling"/"crackling" and I can taste the actual liquid on my tongue too.

With lower voltage, it doesn't do this. So what I've done is that go low just enough to not have the boiling/crackling sound. Is this good way to go?

It's definitely not smoke. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable here can answer better, but as far as I know it's water vapor with nicotine (usually), a combination of propylene glycol (PG) and/or vegetable glycerin (VG) & flavoring. All of these things are apparently way safer than tobacco smoke.

That's what I figured hehe thanks! I am also guessing that these vapors won't make your teeth yellow like regular smoke does?

Hi KC, welcome to ECF.

You're inhaling vapor. There is NO smoke, there is no fire, there is no carbon monoxide. While it isn't exactly water vapor (from a humidifier), it's pretty darn close. PG is what's been used in theater smoke and fog machines for along time. Lots of actors and audiences have been inhaling that for years.

E-juice is a mix of PG (propylene glycol), vegetable glycerine (VG), flavorings and nicotine. Some have a touch of alcohol, some have a bit of water. Depends on the maker.

The rice crispies sound - snap cracke and pop - isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if it's popping the juice onto your tongue, yeah, you need to back off the voltage a bit. The best way to approach VV - variable voltage - is to start low and gradually work up until it's no longer a good vape, then back it down a touch. The nice thing about VV is that you can do that, and it sounds like you've figured that part out!

Different juices vape best at different voltages. Instead of having to put a different value coil in for each juice, you simply adjust the voltage and you're good to go.

Good luck on your journey! I did some "back-sliding" my first week, until I got some stronger nic juice, and haven't looked back - or missed it!

Nope, as far as I can tell. Plus no lingering odors. Plus you're probably (almost surely) not hurting yourself by vaping. Plus I could probably ramble on forever about the benefits of vaping. =] Welcome to the forum btw!

OK what you are taking into your system is Nic. PG and VG and Flavor and no it should not turn you teeth color. if you are drawing to hard you can pull juice into your mouth but that is not the norm. There is a sweet spot depending on the ohms you device is to get you the best Flavor and the best Vapor if it taste burnt it is to much power if not enuff vapor then it is not enuff power if you are over filling you will hear some gurgling the little bit of crackle is normal you are vaporizing a liquid so it will make some sound.

Well, I don't have to soak my partial as long any more :p

Regarding safety - Finn is close, except it's more correctly "way less UNsafe than tobacco smoke"
Vaping hasn't been around long enough to say unequivocally that it's "safe" but it does have the advantage of only having "approved" for human consumption components. Cigarettes have some 4000 extras, none of which are good. And since nothing is burned vaping, there is no carbon particle to to get trapped in your lungs.

Harm reduction is the name of the game.

Hi kc,
Try the paper towel test. With an analog, when you exhale into a paper towel you leave a brown spot from the cig tar and other ingredients.
With vapor, you won't notice any residue.
