Just got finished opening and checking out my new vape gear.

Vamo V3, a couple Evods and a couple smoktek DCT pyrex tanks, plus extras and batteries yada yada.

From the vendor I bought from, I grabbed three E liquids. Its the HighCaliber Brand.

3 Evods, 3 flavors.. match made in heaven.

So far, my overall impression of the flavors, is meh. Tiramisu, Tutti Frutti, and RY4.

The Evods are reading out at 2.6-2.8ohms, and Ive played with the voltage from 3.7 to 5.0. Possibly because Im a new vaper, possibly because the juices need to steep, but they taste very harsh up near 5. Basically the lower the better has been the theme right now. The Tutti Frutti has the most apparent flavor, followed by RY4, and then Tiramisu. I like them in that order.

None of them really make me go, WOW, delicious. Just, Oh.. Ok, cool.

I do have a whole crapload of juices on the way from Mt Baker Vapor to try as well.

Any thoughts? Is High Caliber a known brand of ejuice? Couldnt find a whole lot on them...(I also dont want to put an opinion of a company out there when Im still a new member)

Much appreciated, thanks,Jeff

The search for the perfect vape is a fun hunt that never ends. Along the way you'll find flavors you really like tho. For me personally I think maybe 1/10 flavors I try stays in my "favorite box". The rest I pass along to friends.

Maybe this thread will give you some inspiration as to which brands are some of the bigger favorites out there: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...63-reals-time-2012-ecf-juice-year-awards.html

Every company makes a version of ry4 so hope you don't judge is based on that companies version. I havent tried that company before so no help in that area sorry. Mt baker seems to be popular so would assume they make decent flavors, google can help find which flavors are good from any company.

I make my own liquid now so can only blame myself if it doesn't taste good XD

Thanks for the quick reply.

Im very stoked to have a fighting chance at quitting cigs. IT wouldnt surprise me at all if the three very first juices I tried didn't wow me. Got a bunch more coming, going to order more from other places too..

The Tutti Frutti Im vapin on now.. Its actually pretty decent. Kinda like a sweet tart flavor. I could definitely vape this. Not OMG AMAZING, but definitely not like the other two which are more harsh than anything.

What are the thoughts on nic levels? For real cigs, I smoked ~two packs a day of Marlboro Menthol, for the last 6 years or so. So I went with 18mg nic levels, as what I was reading this past weekend put that nic level right about med-high.. Based on my cig habit, thats what I chose.

What about higher/lower levels? Is there a good way to choose nic level based on how much cigs you used to smoke?

Welcome! I've found in the last month or so after trying out 20 or so juices that there are some I really like, lots more that are okay. The only ones I really haven't come back to that are gathering dust in my vape box are the ones I first bought from local cig shops before discovering online juice providers and local shops that focus on vaping rather than cigs. Keep going, I'm waiting for my second big MBV order - you should find at least a few flavors to get excited about if you bought a bunch.

As far as nic, give it a try for a few days or a week and see how you're doing - I've heard of people with a 2 PAD habit starting on juice as high as 24mg or even 36mg - if you can quit the cigs on 18 great, if not I wouldn't feel bad stepping it up for a while. I was less than one PAD, started with 18 during the day and 12 at night, but I've got some more 12s and even some 6s in the mail to try to step down. Goal 1 - quit smoking. Goal 2 - nic reduction...or at least that's how I see it.

Eh, taste is so subjective, your opinion is valid as anybody's. :)

But, keep in mind, if you're coming off cigs, your sense of taste is muted. It'll start coming back over time and your opinions on juices will change. Heh, I even take my coffee differently now that I can actually taste things.

I picked up early on from the more experienced vapers to never toss a juice. Set it aside (in a cool, dark spot like a cabinet). Sometimes steeping makes a difference, sometimes it'll be your sense of taste coming back. You may like juices you didn't like at first and not like ones you did like.

Or even zanier, like one a lot, buy big bottles, stop liking it at all (in fact, hate it), then like it again though not as much as before.

I went through that with an RY4. I have no idea what the heck that was about. :)

Awesome, thanks so much for the help. The response time is insane! lol

Alright, so, I let the liquid chill in the evods for a bit, maybe a half hour, came back to them, and now they're not nearly as harsh. Smooth even. Flavor is there, still not sure if I LOVE them, but definitely better than when I first tried them.

I THINK, possibly, and correct me if Im wrong here, maybe I was having wicking issues on the Evods? And the harshness was that the wicks werent fully saturated? Maybe I should think about removing one or two as seen in videos...

Welcome and Congratulations!

As others have already said taste is subjective. One man's crap is another man's daily vape. The quest for the perfect juice can be long and expensive. I just glanced in my juice box and I have about 30 different flavors and I am waiting for 3 more to come in vape mail. Of those there are 3 that I love and could vape all day, White Tea and 2 different RY4s ( Every vendor has their own RY4 recipe ) of the rest there is 1 that I found to be unvapable to me. ( Ironically it is also an RY4) The rest are OK, but not great IMHO.

There are a plethora of juice vendors out there are many of them have sample packs available. I recommend getting some of those and choosing a variety of flavor profiles instead of getting all of one type. Sweet, savory, desert, tobacco etc etc.

Also be aware that as your sense of taste improves, your taste in juices will change.

Finally, the juice base affects flavor as well PG=More flavor VG= muted flavor and more vapor.:vapor:

There are 2 things that I noticed and YMMV as always.
Did you rinse your EVOD's in warm water and let dry before using them?
Did you steep your ejuice ?

First time filling, let the ejuice stands in the EVOD for about 5 mins to let it wick thru. You should be all good.
Some juice's harshness never goes away even after steeping (letting it sit for about a week/shaking the bottle a few time during that time.).

My juice now is redbull.

If you're using them now and they're fine, keep using them! The only thing I can think of is that you do need to let your juice sit in an Evod for 5 minutes or so on a fresh head or after cleaning the head - I can get at least 15-20 tanks out of a head, cleaning it every 3-4 tanks, so your existing one may not be trashed. Then again, if you burned the wicks by trying to hit them dry, you might have trashed the head. I just can't imagine it coming back to the point where performance improves if that's the case.

I've never worried about tearing my heads apart to pull wicks, most of my juice is 50PG/50VG - it seems that people that vape really heavy VG seem to be more into doing the wick removal mod. As always, your mileage may vary, just trying to keep it simple for the first few go-rounds!

So, I google searched High Caliber ejuice, and found some threads on it.

There was some negative comments, but if you wanna read those, search, I dont want to bash anyone.

One person said that they found they needed to use real low voltages with their juices.. Whereas with their ADV they would run 4.5-5v depending, they were running 3.7v and even lower with the HC juices.

(This is why I went right to a VV/VW APV. I wanted the flexibility from day 1)

So, thats where im at right now. Trying 3.7 and lower voltages. Seems to have gotten rid of the harsh hits. The Tiramisu has a creamy smoothness to it thats not bad.

All in all, I have no real opinion. Im going to let them steep, continue to try them, so on and so forth. Once my order from MBV comes, Ill get a better idea of what Im tasting and if its right or not.

I also need to order a ton more.. idk.. Cartos? Evods? Clearos? I think maybe Ill grab a couple 510 attys, for trying juices, and then a bunch more Evods, and mayube a couple more Tanks for juices I REALLY like. Maybe a couple packs of Cartos too.

Well.. Another hobby, and its not different. Cash just dissapears. At least this one keeps me off cigs!

Hi

Does that mean to let it sit in the clearo tank itself or have it steep in something else ?

Thanks from a newbie :)

Unless it came to you pre-steeped (not likely), you are definitely going to have to let that RY4 steep for a week or two (closer to two). It is considered a tobacco flavor and has, at a minimum, 3 ingredients ...as such, it requires steeping time.

I'm not sure of the others.
