I love my Protank 2. You can switch out the tip. But I don't get having a 'beauty ring' on it. What for? It fits on the Vamo perfectly. I can't wait fot the Mini Protank 2 so I can use those (smaller diameter) on my eGo's.

I must say...I do like the Smok Tech Vivi Nova tanks a lot, just wish they were bottom feeders. I get tired of having to tip them.

If you have the vamoV3, you can untwist the top ring over the PT2 (and the PT) that means that the only support it's receiving is from the 510 threads, the cosmetic ring gives it a base for the base to sit on, so that it is supported by more than the 510 connection. It will help if it falls over, or drops. Just makes it a little more solid.

I have issues with the PT2 and the Provari. The draw is horrible.
You have to unscrew the head just a tad to get a good draw. I was having the same issue. I'm really liking everything else about it though. I did have to give the whole thing two alcohol baths overnight to get rid of the oil taste though. Same with the Protank 1.

I think the Protanks have their drawbacks, but I still prefer them over many over the other tanks out there. With the bottom coil I can vape away until my tank is completely empty. I do find myself cleaning it frequently, but that's alright. To change the coil isn't hard, and they aren't that expensive.

In the process of ordering some more, so I can have different juices at the same time. I might go with the Protank 2 mini this time.

Same here...........from DV, all my PT2 boxes have come with a beauty ring. Also, I asked about the difference in another post as I was having threading issues getting one to screw onto my mod (assuming Kanger QC issues). Anyway....someone posted up a link that has a close-up shot of PT1 and PT2 base. The air hole on the 510 connection stem is 1/2 the size on the 2 versus the 1. This is the only difference that has been found between the two. Not sure if Kanger is only putting out the new model now....but when I was talking with Eric @ DV, he said Kanger is only listing one replacement base.

If u find draw horrible with pt2 using a pt1 base won't make it better if anything draw is more airy they tightened it up for the pt2.

You misunderstand the complaint. They are getting Very tight draw.
PT1 Base should correct or open the 510 side holes a bit. Also make sure the Head is not Blocking the holes(to tight against) Some generic replacements seem to be to thick.

I have been vaping my PT2 for 5 days now. I love the flavor, and the vape...but now I am starting to get dry hits and burning. I change the coil with a new replacement and it works good until...I get the burnt taste again. I can't figure why its going dry so fast.

I took out the grommet plastic thing inside and it still happens!

Wish I could just get a fresh tasting vape....

Not sure unless you are running to low power for the coil to Vaporize properly.

The Grommet needs to be in place. It seals the 2 pipes to keep the tank air tight for proper pressure.

Wick/coil need to be cleaned and dry burned every few fills or they clog up and taste burnt.

I have been vaping at 4.4 to 5 volts.

When you say wick/coil needs to be cleaned and dry burned every few fills...can you explain more? I know...noon question. But I want to make sure I understand correctly before I bork something up.

Every tank or couple of tanks remove the coil head and soak it in Grain alcohol or Vodka. Rinse good
Use the extra head while the clean one drys.
For really bad coils, rinse under HOT water
Pat water off
Remove top pipe
carefully remove Flavor wicks
Attack coil in base to your battery and pulse on/off - 3-5 second burst
Continue pulsing until coil glows orange and wick turns white
Rinse again and re-assemble
set aside to dry

I rinse after each tank or every other if using same flavor by soaking in Vodka for a couple hours then rinse with hot water. Aside from this (dry burn)....are there replacement materials that can be used for the flavor wicks? I notice that they start to discolor eventually. Assume this is from the heat/coil. Nothing will last forever but if I can replace those as well as dry-burn the coil for longevity...it would help. I'm not yet into rebuilding coils for myself....that may be the next step but any little bit helps!

Thanks...I'm gonna try it. At the rate I vape..I'm gonna need to try it tomorrow :)

Yes I quoted myself :p

I figured out something. I thought the grommet was causing this so I had removed it. After putting it back and pressing it into place I found that the burnt taste was gone. I also started vaping 80/20 pg/VG and the vape is awesome....still learning. I will rinse after work and see if I can keep the good flavor.

Thanks again!
