Congrats, I got mine a couple days ago. The Riva 510 kit I got from LF came with empty carts and for some reason are labeled "atomized cartridge", but they are not cartomizers - they go on the atomizer. Anyway, to fill the carts, here's what I do: Pull the polyfill out, put in 10-12 drops (3/4 full) and fit the polyfill back into the cart. Add a few drops to the top (top it off) until it looks like a slushy (not a pool of liquid).

You could also try dripping. Just put a few drops of juice right onto the bridge of the atomizer. Be sure to blow out the primer fluid first. I put the open end in my mouth and blow into a tissue and then clean up the threads. I found this helpful too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4FSH6WQSX8

On the LF Riva page it looks like: 10 x Blank Carts - e-liquid will be required to fill the cartridges, sold separately
Pretty sure you need to blow out any primer on the atty (a lot of them come with a primer that should be harmless but tastes like crud, I've heard). Then fill a cart -- just drip into it to get it nice and soaked, perhaps just barely pooling. Then put 2 or 3 drops of your eliquid on the atty to prime it. Then put the cart on the atty and fire it up.

(I'm a cartomizer person, tried exactly one cart on an atty, said to heck with it and picked up some cartos for my Riva)

The carts are probably prefilled with a tobacco flavor. You'll be able to tell by looking at them. If the filler looks wet, then they're prefilled. Most people don't like them, but you can go ahead and try one. If you don't like it you can take out the filler and rinse it under hot water, dry it by squeezing it in a paper towel. Put it back in the cart and fill it with your own juice. That's what I did with mine. I thought the prefilled liquid tasted like .....

Puffing primer is like a right of passage, welcome to the club, lol.

So true, isn't it? My first hit off an e-cig was the same and I thought "OMG, how are these people actually enjoying this?" :D

I got it hours ago, and haven't smoked an analog since then! Lol, i'm really gonna try to just not smoke them at all.

Awesome, and I'm glad you're getting your vape on now!

I agree with you markfm, I too have only heard that the primer tastes like crud. I have never experienced any bad taste with a new atomizer. I do know that if I want to change flavors, just blowing out the atty doesn't get all of the first flavor out. I don't know why it would get a "bad primer" taste out.

Congratulations!! Go for it. If you end up needing an ocassional analog, don't beat yourself up about it, just try a different juice or something. It's all trial and error, but you can do it.

Welcome to the forum. After about 2 weeks, your urge to go to your normal smoking spot will start to lessen. If you have trouble, try going to your smoking spot (if you dont smoke in the house) I also found that 24 mg. nic really does the trick. (Hey, that rhymes) I also have some 18mg, and I find it to be a little light for me. I smoked a pack of Camel Lights per day, or a little more.

Your riva is a great kit. I have an ego (just like the riva)

Congrats for starting oout with a killer PV.

i also puffed primer, then came here and read up on what to do, lol. i started vaping almost 2 weeks ago, it takes a little bit to get the hang of it (i'm still learning). but i knew in that first night that it was going to work. hang in there, keep vaping!

btw, i still smoke about 4 cigs a day. godzilla mentioned the desire to smoke lessens after a couple of weeks, this is so true. it is just coming naturally for me, i'm liking the vaping more and the smoking less with each passing day. i never dreamed it would be so easy to get off of cigs. coming to this forum also helps alot.
