The caps are supposed to smooth out the dc voltage. I've seen this done & heard arguments for both ways, with/without caps. Both have their merits.
BTW, in the datasheet, they give a schematic on how to wire it. You can add a resistor & get a different voltage. Leaving it out defaults to 5v. I put an empty wire across there & got 15v out of 4.5v(3x AA box). Didn't try to vape it, no sense in wasting an atty/carto.:)

Well I just finished wiring the booster into my box mod and WOW what a huge difference from 3.7v... I'm light headed right now from it haha. I've only ever vaped at 3.7 so 5v is a huge difference, warmer fuller more flavorfull vape (vaping mad grapes atm). Checked with the new multimeter and it is putting out a consistant 5v of power to the atty.

The ground wire is to the negative battery terminal. The vin is from after the momentary switch, and the vout goes to the atty.

Pics up tomorrow morning. Gotta let the cell phone charge or it won't let me send to my email.:glare:

It's nothing fancy, and none too clean, since it's stuck in a space where it mostly fits.:p

I have an order coming in monday of some more parts and I'll be building a new box that I will actually design with the booster in mind so it isn't so messy. 5v 10ml 1600mAh juice feeder with a charger jack sounds pretty good to me.

Nope nothing rattles ever hah. Bottle is squeezed in place, and everything kind of holds itself together..

The space above the red wires is too small to get anything and the atty connector is right there... but! There is space on the bottom in the middle between the DC jack and the on/off switch... I wonder what could squeeze in there...

How about a color changing LED that fires when you have the charger plugged in?

Already have that in there.
This is in the box that I have a charger pcb with the LED on that. Red when charging, green when charged. Next box I have will use an external charger, so I'll be able to use the charger LED for in that box maybe...

@Chev: I know the atty connector reads 4.9v (might as well be five) when I have the master switch and momentary switch fired. I've never used a multimeter before I can't figure out where to stick the proddy thingys into the atty to measure the exact voltage of that. My guess is it is still pretty darn close to 5v, probably negligible amount.

I will keep that in mind, sci. Let us know how those diodes work out I'm sure many other people would like another safety net in there.

I finally put one of these in a box with an 18650... Awesome! Much better than 2 batteries in series!
When vapor quit(or dropped to almost nothing), I metered the battery. 3.3v. Perfect for me. I'm going to check it a few more times to make sure. If that's the norm, I can live with it. Well in the safe zone.
I've had this booster wired & ready to go for a while. I've made 2 regular 5v mods & they're ok, sorta harsh with the cartos, this thing is a totally different story. Now I've got to make a 'BOB' so my other mods won't go to waste... Kinda hard to go back to Smirnoff when you've tasted Gray Goose.:)

6-2-10-I checked the latest 18650 when vapor production was at a bare minimum, this time it was 2.95V. I'm going to keep an eye on this. I pushed it this time, but I still don't like going below 3v.
