I have no idea for sure what GN has but since he was ordering from Kidney Puncher I'm going to assume he has this meter 510 Ohm Meter Model 2 - Kidney Puncher I happen to have the exact same meter but mine is always within .1 ohm with what both my multi-meter and my VV/VW's say so not sure what's going wrong.

I see no reason to trust the ohm rating on defective devices. You have gotten poor performance from those devices already....mass produced coils suck. They don't ohm them out then stamp the number on the head. They build with a length of wire that should be 2 ohm...2.5 ohm...3 ohm... you get it. That means it should be close. If it's poorly wrapped with shorts or loose connections, you will get bad readings. If your getting those terrible flavors, all of your stuff is probably defective. The Cisco was as close as you've been to satisfied and it ohm's out close to what it says it is. Try the paperclip trick.

What gauge wire do you have? You should be able to get a decent idea of what your resistance is by first measuring the wire and then wrapping a coil. It doesn't even have to look good. Just to test.

30 awg (Ω/in) 0.7 ohms
31 awg (Ω/in) 0.9 ohms
32 awg (Ω/in) 1.2 ohms
33 awg (Ω/in) 1.4 ohms
34 awg (Ω/in) 1.8 ohms
35 awg (Ω/in) 2.3 ohms
36 awg (Ω/in) 2.9 ohms

If I'm not mistaken, you don't even need to wrap the coil. Cut an inch of .30 ga and just mount an end in each post of your rba. Just an arch...making sure the wire isn't touching itself anywhere. It should come out at .7 ohms. If it doesn't there's a problem.

I forgot that he said he was ordering from kidney puncher too, I saw the got Vapes product mentioned and assumed it was from there.

Have you put the atomizers on your provari or any other device that reads resistance and compared that to your new meter? If not, give that a try. It may actually be reading correctly.
He does not own a device that can read the ohms if I remember right. He is using a Spinner I think.

GoodNews I do know FASTTECH Ohm meters had a bit of a run of DOA units. It is not impossible you have run into a bad one. I would check with the vender on it.

Yeah, I'm not sure, I just remember another thread where he was ordering some stuff from KP so I assumed it's from there but you know what happens when one assumes.

I may have confused him with someone else then. My memory isn't the greatest in the world thanks to 30 or so concussions.
@goodnews do you have a multimeter or know someone who does? That would be a great way of confirming what the resistance readings are. Anyway, hope you get it figured out.

No, he doesn't have a DMM and I don't think he has a friend with one, he might be able to go to the local vape shop and have it compared?
He ordered from Kidney Puncher and I think Got smoke?, them or Mad vapes, I forget.

GoodNews!

Alright guys, I'm back (job training, awful stuff), anyway, yeah, the ohm checker I ordered is just the simple one from GotVapes, it's the kind you simply turn on and off. It has an adapter to check battery wattage, but not a setting (which, now that I think about it, seems odd, but I guess the adapter is built much like the paper clip test - something that transfers voltage across a wire that has no added resistance???)

But thank you guys for the paper clip / kanthal idea, I'm going to try that out after a cigarette and make that ohm checker spill the beans the hard way, either it's going to tell me the right ohms, or it's going to literally meet its maker.

And the Fluxomizers were just for review. I didn't honestly even expect them to taste good, though I had a slight hope that they'd at least give me a soft, mellow flavor without that nasty old silica bite. Very first puff, I was like "Wow, that ain't bad!", two, three, four puffs later, it was bad. Singed polyfil on a Blu carto bad. Tastes like a sweaty sock that some dorky college roommate lit on fire for a second while drunk. That's what a bad coil on silica reminds me of.

Anyway, remember my thread about the "pincher things?" Ends up I very much need pincher things. Tweezers are way too small, I'm off tomorrow to buy some pliers, some isoprophil, and once and for all, a good battery with an ohm checker - guess what, after all this online ordering fuss, I call the local vendor today and they just now opened up! What irony.

I don't trust those Gotvapes ohm checkers. They've read things horribly wrong before (at least in my experience). I don't use RBAs but they (ohm checker) were almost an entire volt off. I attached the atomizer to my Provari as well as an actual digital multimeter (which came out roughly the same, minus .1) and got vastly different readings.

Tweezers are too small for what? Your microcoils? My experience is that microcoils work the best when they are 8 wraps, or close too that. With 8 or so wraps standard tweezers should be more than enough. What ohms are you aiming for? And what guage of wire are you using?
