I just took my 1st delve into DIY, and my choice was between 2 shops - Wizard Labs & Vapor Shots. I had a set limit due to my card balance, and was leaning towards Wizard cuz of their more extensive flavor selection. So I added nic. base and PG/VG to my cart, to check how much shipping was gonna cost - came to $9 for USPS Priority. I added my flavorings to the cart, knowing my limit, and proceeded to checkout. After adding 7-8 of the smallest size bottles, shipping was now at $12.50, which put me OVER my limit. Now as far as I kno when you're shipping stuff Priority, there's a flat-rate, and I thought this was a little stingy - it left a sour taste in my mouth. I then headed over to Vapor Shots and did my same check on shipping, after adding just my nic/PG/VG. USPS 1st class was $6.99, which I was much more attentive to. I thought there'd be a chance of it going up after adding flavorings, but lo and behold, shipping stayed at $6.99. I was able to order 11 bottles of flavoring w/ the same base ingredients I'd have gotten from Wizard. Based on my situation, this made my choice much, much easier - and I now have my 1st DIY order from Vapor Shots on the way!

Yea definitely gonna do a bunch of reading on the percentages and all that. I have the jist of it, but once I have a tracking number I'm gonna hit the books. I just hope I'm able to make a good blueberry / vanilla ice-cream mix w/ the flavors I got. Wizard had more blueberry and vanilla varieties, but hopefully the ones on Vapor Shots are good. Flavor bottles are so cheap tho and it won't be a problem ordering a few more if I feel the need to. I definitely got a lot of other flavors to keep me busy tho, and I'm already stocked up on empty 5 / 10 mL bottles haha.

Taste each flavor individually before you try combining. You may find the blueberry taste totally different then what you expected. Same flavors from different manufactures have different taste. A blueberry I got from TFA tasted more like jolley rancher candy then true blueberry.

Do you have any recommendations for a site if I just wanted to order a few small bottles of flavoring and not pay an arm and a leg for shipping? I noticed they have flavorings on ebay, but there's gotta be tons of sites out there w/ better deals. I wanted to try 2 kinds of blueberry and 2 kinds of vanilla, cuz just like you said they can vary quite a bit.

Yeah... I agree with you on that. When people/sites have stupid shipping policies it really pisses me off. I have done my fair share of shipping things so I know how it works/how much it should be... and when companies do stuff like that, it irks me. I feel like it's shady because you know that that extra money isn't going towards shipping so it's going towards profit... which is misleading because you think you're paying X amount for something but in reality you're paying more because the cost is hidden in the shipping. I feel this way especially about sample boxes. you know those monthly subscription boxes? "It's only $19.95 a month (then the asterisk, plus $5.95 shipping) Ok... Then why not just say it's $25 instead of trying to make it sound like it's cheaper. You HAVE to pay the shipping so you'll never be paying just that $19.95 price.

ecigexpress has a great selection of flavors, including some of the stuff that is harder to find like Hangsen and Flavorart. (their signature line is TFA in different bottles I believe) They also have a shipping option for 4.99. The hitch is, they get to pick the carrier. I have made several orders with them and nothing ever took longer than about 5 business days. They also ship promptly, usually the next day. They run sales and specials, and also have free shipping for orders of over 80$. Their website is also great for just browsing flavors. Search for custard, chocolate, or whatever and it will give you all the flavors, from all the manufacturers, so you can compare price, reviews, etc. Their prices are comparable to most other vendors. As far as what your are looking for, I might suggest vanilla bourbon (signature), french vanilla (capellas), blueberry from both hangsen and capellas.

Cool I was just checking that site out, tons of stuff on there. I'd honestly liked to have just gotten the blueberry "extra" and vanilla ice-cream "swirl" flavors they had on Wizard. I have this gut feeling I'm missing out and those would make for this best combo. I had a couple versions of it from the B&M, and vanilla ice-cream w/ a little extra blueberry was really good. I'm sure what I got from Vapor Shots will be good, but I wanna try a variety. Thinking about how much of each and the percentages makes me a little leary, but I figure I'll just start on the low side, try it out, and go from there. It's gonna take practice, but I'm hoping it's easy to tweak the flavor combos after trying them out.

I just realized that Wizard actually does have cheap shipping if you're just getting some small flavor bottles, and can keep the package in the weight range for 1st class. I checked the shipping for 6 flavor bottles and it was only $2.41, so I take back my frustration towards them lol. But they're now all of a sudden out of Blueberry Extra TFA! It's all good, I'll definitely be getting some when it's back in stock along w/ the vanilla ice-cream swirl..

I've never had to worry about shipping with WL, I always spend over $65 and get free 2 day priority shipping (over 60 flavors and counting ). Seriously, they are a great place, high quality Nic, very reasonably priced, good customer service, excellent packaging (I think the postman could drop my stuff from a plane and nothing would break), and free shipping over $65. :toast:

Happy New Year,
Steve

Before judging you should really see for yourself how WL actually packages shipments. If you ever get something damaged that was shipped by them it had to have been run over by an 18 wheeler. There is nothing cheap about using top quality bags and packing materials and even encouraging combined orders to save customers money on shipping. And they invite you to pickup local if possible along with orders over $65 shipping free. If that's not enough they always throw in a free 5ml flavor sample and a pipette which is worth at least a buck in itself.

So there is nothing shady about WL or the way they handle shipping by any stretch.

After I realized you can order flavor bottles w/ cheap 1st class shipping from Wizard, I felt bad about making the big point about their shipping. It just seemed like they were trying to fleece, when the shipping cost went from 9.00 to 12.50 after I added flavor bottles to the order. I don't doubt the quality job they may do on shipping, but it's just something that can irk a potential 1st time customer. When it comes to online shopping, there's really nothing like "Free Shipping" that makes ppl wanna start spending! I do plan on ordering some flavors from Wizard as soon as they have the Blueberry Extra back in stock, which sold out after I made the thread lol.

Shipping is a big part of my shopping. It is fustrating when you only need a few small things and have to pay a lot for shipping but that's a normal fact of life. I write a list and wait until I have a decent size order. Then shop around for the vender that has everything I need and place a bulk order. Venders need to make a living and need to be concerned how the products get delivered. So as long as the vender packages correctly I don't get upset. But when a vender packages cheap and charges a fortune and the products leak and get damaged then I get upset.

My best advice is find the quality venders that package well and charge a fair price for shipping . Wait on supply's until you have a decent size wish list and buy in bulk. There are those times where you need that all important ingredient and just ran out so in those cases you just have to bite the bullet and pay the shipping.

as soon as they have the Blueberry Extra back in stock

If you wait many other flavors will also go in/out of stock while waiting for one or two. Best thing to do is order what you want that is available now so it wont go out of stock. Then ask in the form they provide in the ordering system or call them and ask to hold shipment until additional flavors become available. I once had to combine three orders and I'm sure others do it to save a few pesos. You could even call them up and tell them you would like X but only Y and Z are available.
