I have been using my Roughstack for a few days and I love it. I have a 18650 battery so I have been using it at 3.7 volts.

Since I am new to this whole mod thing I have been trying to figure out the whole battery thing so I can go onto trying 5 and 6 volts with it.

The reviews for a lot of the batteries on Madvapes make me hesitant to purchase the 16340 3v batteries and I am also a little confused about them.

First of all, do the 16340 batteries come in different voltages? Some say 3 volts and others say 3.7 volts. Are there any other places to purchase these batteries? Are the Ultrafire 3v 16340 batteries as bad as many of the reviews say they are and if so, what other options do I have?

When I look up these batteries on different sites the term 'RCR123A 3.0V' comes up. Are these what I am looking for? Is there anything else required to safely run them in my PV?

Also, what do I need to make it a 5v mod? I have read in a few places that people have used the right combos of batteries to make it 5 volts. Where do I get these and can anybody suggest ones to purchase?

Thanks!

You should contact the manufacturer directly to get a known response of what's recommended for your device, not so much because I don't want to answer all of your questions, but before you order them you want to be sure they'll actually fit.

As I'm sure you're aware, the naming method of 16340 is a definition of its length and width, however batteries vary a fair bit even at the same size rating. Now when you stack them you're going to exaggerate that difference even more, not to mention some are flat top, and some are not. You might order a whole bunch to change your voltage, but not be able to fit them into your mod, if they aren't the ones it was designed for.

Someone else with a roughstack may be able to chime in though, and let you know what to grab.

If he's got an 18650 battery in there, he's already got the long version. I believe the 16340 3V is equivalent to the RCR123A battery. You can stack two in the Roughstack for 6.0 volts. The Roughstack is unregulated, so there is no 5 volt option. 6 volts burns juice, so you should probably try the highest voltage atomizer you can find (which I believe is 5 ohms) and hope for the best. Unfortunately, I haven't got the right setup to confirm for you.

Also, two 16340s are 70mm or 5mm longer than your 18650. You'll find you won't be able to screw the Roughstack cap all the way down with that setup.

I ordered the 5v option which LibertariaNate suggested and it should arrive today. I guess we will see :p

I am a little bummed though.

Now my Maxi is cutting off after less than a second when I am vaping, making me have to press the button over and over again to get a sufficient drag. I tried both my batteries and they are not the problem. I then took off the switch to see if that was the problem. I am a little confused about this switch. The madvapes website says that it is user replaceable with 'no soldering'.

When I unscrewed the switch and popped it out there is a red wire connecting the switch board to the 510 connector.... and its soldered on there.... it looks nothing like the replacement switch on the website...

I am going to take some pictures and ask about it in the madvapes forum.

Back to my Joye Ego for the time being....

Weird. My Roughstack switch assembly looks like this when I unscrew it from the cap.

    I have a Maxi RS...

5v option: NiMH Batteries and Chargers
6v option: Haoba rcr123a 3 volt Battery Kit

I have and use both on a regular basis.

    Hope that helps.

There you go. Although I don't think the nimhs are actually a "true" 5 volt batt, they beat the heck outta an 18650 for warmth and th. My switches both look like the one somebody else posted up and can be switched out in 30 seconds or so, but read somewhere (I think on the Madvapes forum) that a new switch was about to make its debut and perhaps you have one of those????
In any case...I would post up on the MV forum and someone WAY more intelligent than I will hook you up.
