hello all just wanted to say hi.I have been getting tons of info from here but just decided to join.I have been a member of several rc helicopter sites for years and I am actually a rep for several rc heli companies. It seems the e cig forums work EXACTLY the same as the heli forums so Ill fit right in.Basically people ask about a product and what happens is people who have never owned it then post about how horrible it is and whats wrong with it while explaining why the unit they have purchased is so much better.Whatever product people own rules and everything else is a pos.......so I cant wait to join in some dicsussions and learn as much as I can as there is always plenty to learn.......oh as for my screen name,I have been playing and teaching guitar for 30 years and love it...so again HI and Im glad to finally be a part of this awesome online community............currently I have an mvp2 an istick40 tc and just this week got an ipv3li

thanks and yes I have thoroughly learned how to abuse batteries and I have learned what not to do......lol.But until a few days ago both my mods had built in batteries. This is my first experience with 18650 (ipv3li)and I have to say I am quite baffled by the vaping communiy's facination and insistance with the 18650.There also seems to be a lot of fear and misinformation about lipo.
one of my larger helis runs a 6 cell 2600 mah 40c battery a a little over 24 v when fully charged and quite capable of putting out 100+ amps.Certain manuvers are problably more in the area of 60 amps for a few seconds at a time. The 18650 were never really designed for what vapors are trying to get them to do which is repeated high amps hits, so It kind of baffles me why you guys have continued to try and get them to work even though many of you seem VERY dissappointed with the performance you are getting.Besides the fact that they are kind of bulky for their power abilities.I really think the mod builders need to develop ways of being able to safely incorporate balance charging in mods....thats the key to safe series cell lipo, balance charging

oh I have done what research I could in the weeks leading up to my purchase of the ipv/18650 including talking to one of the guys at the company where I get my lipos and as far as I can tell no current manufacturer is making an 18650 thats rated at more than 30 amp continuous. So these re wrapped 18650 claiming 40 amps are a little on the shall we say "misleading" side.I see many back and forth discussions about battery brand loyaly but really I dont think there are more than 5 or 6 factories geared up for 18650.The rest are all re wraps.batteries can be very confusing and misleading cause some companies arent exactly truthful with specs.I would be willing to bet none of the batts claiming 40 amps can sustain a draw anywhere near that

Hello and welcome to the forum @fenderstrat. Glad to have you here!:)
I would be willing to bet none of the batts claiming 40 amps can sustain a draw anywhere near that
And you would be correct.:) Most re-wrappers with cells claiming 40A are 40A pulse, 20A CDR.

Check out some of @Mooch battery blog posts.

Hi and welcome. I just joined myself and have been (almost) overwhelmed by the amount of information available here. As with any learning endeavor in life ... Have an open mind, but not so open your mind falls out!

P.S. I am a guitarist and playing for several decades ... you user ID has got me thinking i should change mine to "GibsonSG" :headbang:

I have been doing more thinking on this and I think I know the reasons lipo's are not yet mainstream in vaping ...SAFETY.In looking around it seems balance chargers are still way to big to be incorporated into a mod and I think the general public is not ready or willing to take the responsibilty and time one must take when charging series lipos.Using lipos takes a serious commitment to be done safely you cant just plug them in and come back when the light comes on...well you CAN but your house or garage may not look the same(seriously though I believe lipos are inherently safe and reliable) so in short we are stuck with 18650 till we get a micro charge/balance set up

Whatever product people own rules and everything else is a pos......

    Firstly, Welcome :)

Not always. I own some stuff which I'd never recommend.
Some folk even fall into the trap of buying (and enjoying) something for 3 times the price unwittingly. I'd be surprised if there was as much fakery in any industry as the e-cig one.
Fake reviews, hundreds of fake websites reviewing items for fake people looking to make a quick buck at the expense of their fellow human being.
Not smoking is important to all of us, we are passionate. This is where the problems start and the money starts to pervert the normal rules.

PS... I play some Guitar. I am very bad. Ten Chords, two pentatonics and the truth.
