I won't lie. It was nice.
Do I prefer vaping... Yes!

So 2 yrs and 9 months in but it doesn't feel like a backward step. I've got no desire to smoke cigs again.

TBH the cigar wasn't the highest of quality but no matter the cost, feels low end compared to my paps with kfun lite/Heron/dvarw.

Not a backward step at all. :) Thanks for sharing and being honest it helps me to know that if I were to smoke a cigarette that I too would like vaping better so why bother.
sometimes remembering where you come from helps to keep you off those cancer sticks. I myself recently took a drag off of a friend's smoke which resulted in me almost being sick from it xD It was hilarious since i ended up vaping almost a whole tank to get rid of that awfull taste :p

After 30 years plus of smoking I don't want a reminder. I do keep a tobacco flavored simple setup for those times that I do think of cigarettes.

After being a smoker for almost 40 years when I first quit, the smell of a freshly lit cigarette did have some appeal but after over 3 years since I quit it doesn't any longer. Yesterday someone was smoking outside an Extended Care facility I was at and I had to move up wind because it just smelled nasty. But that is me and no one else.

My wife still smokes,so i smell it constantly. From a bit of a distance,i still like the smell, but if i'm close to her while she smokes, close up it smells horrible and chokes me.It amazes me that i smoked for over 25 years, and that now i can barely breathe when close to the smoke.

I have a cigar once in a while, socially - I usually can't wait to brush my teeth.

I remember a long while back after a big Steak dinner the smell of my neighbors cigarette smelling so good I had to have one! Honestly it did not taste as good and I spent the entire night washing my face, hands and brushing my teeth. Just could not get the stink off of me until I showered the next morning. That was the very last one I will ever have and the experience after will always stick in my head.

Heh, it's a good thing for the husband that I don't totally hate the smell of cigarette smoke, at least not always. If he comes home just coated with stale cigarette smoke, that's not the greatest. When he's sitting next to me smoking and the smoke blows my way, and I'm vaping, he usually smells *grrrrrreat* that's not so good either, LOL. I knew he wasn't going to quit when he bought a storehouse of altoids and hand sanitizer, that's when I knew, LOL.

But, patience and tolerance is the key, right? Usually, I can talk myself into having him around, I don't want to be that naggy wife who *demands* anything, given how I used to smoke, I have no right to tell any family member anything about smoking, LOL.

It varies from day to day, how smoke actually smells for me, but unless it's like the residue of All the Cigarettes of the Day, it's quite fine.

I find myself getting annoyed with moms who smoke dragging their kids behind them. Total hypocrisy, I *was* one of those moms. I didn't smoke in the house, but anywhere else was fair game. :( I probably get mad because I see myself in them, so I always send a vaping prayer, and sometimes I'll hang around vaping, in the hopes that the mommy will see me and ask.... I never say anything. NO way. Not gonna interrupt a smoking mommy heading at the store with her two kids.... I don't think *that* conversation would go anyplace good.

Kinda reminds me of my sister, she has a kid yet my mom tried to make her quit smoking lots and lots of times, her only answer is always i'm not ready yet (has been for the past like 4 years) i've pifed a free juul type devices i had for free when i first started vaping and she hasen't used it yet. Even my brother in law says he would stop but the fact she'd still smoke would make it too hard for him (he gets most of the stress and pressure these days and that's why i myself don't really talk to my sister), I keep telling me mom it's too ironic that you have a child yet still keep smoking and can justify to do so by saying she aint ready. Imho she'll never stop and probably get her daughter to smoke eventually, sad story but that's pretty much how it happened with me (had a stepdad and my sister smoking all the time when i was young).

On the plus side, my son started smoking at around 16, pretty briefly, then started vaping himself, did that for a while, then quit totally (still quit 6 mo later) he was part of my rationale for quitting, LOL, I was feeling pretty lame that my *kid* could do something I could not. :) In the ultimate act of, "Mom, here you go, dummy," he gifted me all his vaping equipment, LOL.

Not too much I could do but comply, after that. Maybe the same thing will happen with your sis. Yep, I totally felt the guilt, many kids of smokers end up smokers. IDK though, you have to have an awesome kid like mine, who appears to be handling turning into a grownup with true grace and excellent style, LOL.

He's super happy I'm vaping though, he worried about my health a lot.... I was too sick to be as worried as I should have been, I just got sick of being on steroids all the time and like billions of inhalers, etc., and finally realized COPD was in my future. And not years away, either, in my IMMEDIATE future....

I had 2 main reasons to quit smoking : 1. being my own health,as i am diabetic (type 1 or juvenile)
and 2 being that i live with my mom atm and couldn't stand making her smell and probably inhale all that smoke when she never smoked herself (i kept hearing her cought at night also which was why i felt like a total dunce)
Ever since i stopped smoking haven't heard my mom cought once and she seems to be sleeping much better now (i on the other hand have other issues which prevent me from sleeping that well but that's another story entirely :p)

For my health i've never had issues but smoking did prevent me to do as much as i could to keep my blood sugar at a "correct" level, where'as now i'm twice as stable as i was and feel sooooo much better.

I don't know if I could choke down a cigarette. About 3 months after I switched to vaping, I tried a cigarette, just to see if I was done with them. I couldn't finish 2 puffs, it was completely disgusting. Haven't tried one since. I still have an unopened "trophy" pack - it'll be 8 years old in a couple months.

Good for you, QC, I was thinking "sibling rivalry" LOL, when you first posted about being able to do something your sister couldn't, but now I see your awesome motivations for quitting, and fantastic job for caring enough about your mom to make the switch! I know everyone says you have to quit for yourself and all, but a big motivator for me was to *not* make my loved ones suffer and watch me slowly drown for the next decade while having to cart me around with an oxygen tank. I mean, I didn't want that for myself, but I surely couldn't have lived with myself doing that to the Family... So it was kind of a combination of things.

I'm sure your mom is thrilled not to be coughing so much, but I bet her main thrill is knowing that you will be around, and healthy, for many years to come. :) You get Good Son points from me... LOL.

My mom's first question nowadays is, "How's the quitting, Anna? How's the grandson doing with quitting?" LOL, Every. Time. :)

I had to relight that cigarette a bunch of times and it was so long ago I am not sure exactly how much of it I finished. Just remember I could not get the stink off me!
