Just wanted to introduce myself.

Hi, I'm velvetvapour, I started smoking cigarettes when I was sixteen but I just got my first proper e-cig two days ago, one of those ubiquitous Aspire clearomizers with a rechargeable battery.
I had tried out my friends vapes before but they were plagued by leakages (now I know due to overfilling)
I got my own two days ago on a whim, over Christmas I'm at home with parents who do not approve of cigarettes (the smell, my smoking in general) and so with a vaporiser I can get my nicotine hit in private and without smell/mess/second hand smoke.
I loved it so much the next day I rushed out and got a second bottle of juice (Jawbreaker, 12mg)
I never thought I would have any alternative to quitting smoking that would suffice so I thought I'd never stop (I'd tried patches, gum, Nicorette inhalators) and they just didn't cut it. Now a purchase which was only made as a temporary method to get through the holidays at home has opened my eyes to how great e-cigs really are. I'd purchased disposable e-cigs several times to use on long car journeys and they didn't do much for me - removed a little of the craving but still left me wanting more. With this vaporiser I can see myself getting through the day without a cigarette (with less craving, not the elimination of all cravings.)
I'd like to know the terminology really, I hear a lot of words used in the vaping community and I have no clue what they mean.
I'm a beginner for sure haha.
Thanks for reading this :)

Welcome.

What kit did you end up with? When you say 'Aspire' that's the tank (clearomiser) or the whole thing?

We'll look after you. Yes, e-cigs can be a miracle.... but you need a fairly good one and the right strength of liquid.

:)

Heya djsvapour, it has aspire BDC on it, again I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks x

to ecf velvetvapour. So glad you are here and congrats on the vaping. It is pretty darn awesome. Look forward to reading more about your adventure. Enjoy and have fun.

Welcome. I'm new here as well and only started vaping if that's the right term 4 weeks ago. I've smoked 2 packs a day for 30 plus years. Tried a cheap e cig (max vapour) and found it helped me cut back on cigs. Stepped up to a slightly better more expensive model a week ago.The KangorTech eVod. Longer battery life and smoother vapour, better coil maybe?Once i got used to the difference, especially how to take a slower drag and give the unit time time cool between puffs it's quite satisfactory. I haven't had a smoke for 3 weeks and honestly believe this is going to work for me.If I can have the pleasure and relaxation of "smoking" without killing myself in the process I'll be a happy man.I find having 3 devices helps. One is on the charger and 2 are redy to go. That way if I'm "smoking" heavy I can alternate with the 2 charged units and not overheat either.

Congrats to you and neno!!! Aspire is the manufacturer....bdc is one of the products that they make. I also use those clearomizers (juice holder). Basically that's a generic term, meaning it's clear, you can see your juice, and it has an atomizer in it to heat the juice. You'll pick it all up as you go along. Bdc, means that it's a Bottom Dual Coil. Two coils, and they're at the bottom as opposed to the top.

I had much reduced cravings, but still had cravings, for about 8 months or so. I'd started at 18mg nic. When I finally went up to 24mg nic, it eliminated all cravings other than just the nostalgia for a cig once in awhile. But now I know I'll never go back, and upping my nic did that for me. Now after almost 2 years of 24mg I am wondering if I might be ready to go back down to 18. Not sure. I'm gonna get a bottle of 18 on my next juice purchase and try it. If not, I'll stay at 24. Still much better for me than smoking was.

Welcome to ECF!! Jump in with both feet and don't be afraid to ask. Most folks here are very friendly and helpful. Once in awhile you run across someone who isn't........ignore them and go on vaping and having fun!

hey Debadoo, your post was comforting actually, I did vape 2 years ago for almost 6 months and then went back to cigarettes, many reasons I gave for this, I lost 2 family members within a week of each other, lost my old dog and also couldn't quite ever get passed the cravings which I admit were mild but whenever something bad happened that is all I could think about! But now I realised I never tried any nic level over 12mg because I tasted one persons tabacco flavoured one at 24mg first vape ever and I thought I would cough for a week!! Was scared to experiment more with the higher mg of nic in juices so it never really helped me get on top of the cravings at crucial times. This time I am experimenting with many flavours all at 24mg until I find the best but I am tolerating all juices of 24mg really well! I should have started stronger nic the first time and I probably would never have fell off the wagon! But here I am again determined to make it work this time and pleasantly suprised.

Glad it helped Dyanne, and so very glad you're finding a better solution this time around!!! Don't ever focus on the set backs, but only on the positives!! Hope everything goes great for you this time and you can kick it for good!!! And congrats on trying again!!
