I know many, many people have posted, but I just got to say the same thing...WOW:shock:
Got my SB Saturday (fast shipping!), and have 2 days on it, and IT is the best!

First day I used stock batteries, and loved it, works flawlessly, and has the vap I've be hunting for. I took it to supercross Sat night and got a lot of questions about it, so that was cool...and no one even minded me vaping!
That night I saw on here everybody was raving about this thing at 6v, so I had to give it a try.

Sunday went to Fry's and found this UltaLast 123 kit @ 500mAH, so I thought it would work, but...I wanted more. Next to it were these 700mAH batts, so I knew this would be good, and yes they are "unprotected" as you all say, but WTF, I don't think it matters either way, unless there's something going on with this product I don't know about?

Anyway, I just wanted to thank Rod for helping me out with the order and quick service, plus making a quality product.

BUT Rob, you got to make this thing trick looking, it's so plane, my wife even says it looks like I'm sucking on a big aluminum pipe--hehe, I guess I am tbh.

ALSO: could some of you pros let me know about this battery kit I got?
Thanks all--looking forward to your input.

BTW: 6v is great, and I'll probably stay here now, but man does it suck up the juice at 6v!

There may be something going on with unprotected batteries that you don't know about. Under certain circumstances they can explode.

It's quite simple really. If you use unprotected cells it is possible to overcharge/over dis-charge. This will damage the cell and may cause an internal short. Protected batteries also offer external short circuit protection. An external short circuit could come from a bad adapter, or a bad atomizer etc etc. When a cell becomes damaged it can vent with flame and possibly explode.
Using unprotected batteries is NOT RECOMMENDED

So you're saying these do not work then? Seem to work fine to me.

*"If you use unprotected cells it is possible to overcharge": This is a possibility true, but if you're using the designed charger to charge these it is highly unlikely.

*"over dis-charge. This will damage the cell and may cause an internal short.": Yes this can happen, but it seems that the way this product is use it is unlikely that major discharge will happen. At the most you may only discharge at a 10-15sec interval @ 6v, so this seems hardly enough to cause "major discharge". Maybe 30sec, one minute, might cause this, but not at such short intervals.

*"An external short circuit could come from a bad adapter, or a bad atomizer etc etc": This is a real possibility, and I agree with you. Although, I think this is an exception rather than a rule. Meaning: Any battery is subject to this with similar results happening regardless of what it is.

Although, in my line of work I do have to deal with a lot batteries (I"m not an expert though), I have seem my fair amount of failures, but always due to extreme events happening to the battery: charging too quickly, crushed cell, too much discharge, etc.
Really, the only thing I see to make this thing go boom would be dropping it and crushing the cell, or juice getting inside to cause a short or overload. Again an extreme circumstance.
To finish, I think a lot of the thinking on this subject is based off old info/technology. LiPo's, Li-ion's, etc. have changed dramatically the last couple of years, and they are not as sensitive, or finicky as they once were. BTW, I used LiPo batteries all the time under racing conditions. In five years have had 2 major failures, and 3 "pouch cells" swell up on me.

So other than the "protected" thing, are these the right mAH, and volt?

Please read this thread
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/altsmoke/65148-battery-info.html

Assuming a 1.5C those batteries are capable of 1.05A for total of 2.1A, a 510 atomizer wants to pull 2.96A@6v(7.4v fully charged), also keep in mind that there is 2.96A running through the top cell. With out the protection to shut the cell down you are running a risk. I will say again we do not recommend using unprotected cells of any kind in the SB/BB.
