im in the market for a mech mod and really like the looks of the gunmetal k101 , i was just wondering if anyone has any experience in switching the spring switch over to a magnetic ? is it even possible ? also was wondering if a 18650 would fit with a kick or would i have to use a 18500 ?

new to the forums , long time reader , first time posting

thanks for the help !

I'm not sure about the switch part of your question, but as for kicking it, I just checked mine and with the tube screwed out to the threads it has about 1/4 inch or more additional space. Mind you the threads are pretty long on the mod as well. If you wanna experiment with one my local shop in st Louis mo sells them dirt cheap (knock offs I'm sure but hey if it works why complain).

i dont believe the k101 is able to be converted to a magnetic switch. of course, i could be wrong. haha. but i have the k100 and the way the firing switch is configured, its more or less one piece. unless the k101 has a different switch, i'd say no. if youre looking for a magnetic switch, might as well go with a magneto or a nemesis and convert the neme.

but, i must say, my firing switch on my k100 is one of my favorites as far as reliablity and ease. ive never had a misfire, and its really easy to fire. i can stand it on its firing button without locking it and its stable and wont fire. also, youre able to adjust the throw of the switch to your liking.

as far as your kick question, ive never used a kick. (dont feel the need for it for a mech mod) but thats imo. anyway, ive heard of people stating that their kick gets stuck in their k100 or k101 due to the inner diameter of the telescoping tube being too small. again, this is just my understanding from reading on this forum. i have never personally attempted this myself.

hope this helps!

I have one but no kick. I don't think there is enough threads to fit it. Mag switch may be possible but will probably require machine work. Probably not worth the effort to change the switch. Stock one works fine. Main drawbacks of the K100 series from Kamry are that the threads tend to strip and they choke off airflow on some atomizers.
BTW the Kamry K100s are knockoffs. The original is the Empire mod EmpireMods

The vast majority of 18650 mechanical mods will require you to drop down to an 18490/18500 size battery to allow room for the Kick.

Remember, the Kick requires a "high drain" battery. I recommend the AW 18490 IMR 1100 mAh.

This ^^^. I just unscrewed my K100 and it gave me 5 mm maximum and even with that there were only a few threads engaged. The kick needs ~ 15, so it's a no go.

I had broke my plastic insulator on the switch so I looked for a replacement with no luck.so I was looking around the garage for something to put on the spring to keep the mod from automatically firing then I see the answer a inch diameter rubber hose so I cut a piece about 1/2 in tall and cut a small piece out of the circle to make it fit in the top of the switch and removed the spring and it works way better than before to cannot tighten the tube to the point of auto firing and the rubber provides a nice firm fit of the battery to the positive pin of the mod I am going to do a tutorial on this on youtube

Somewhere out there
Looks like this was already answered, but I'm going to chime in anyway.

I run my K100 with a 18350 and a kick. The kick is a snug fit in the tube and I need small pliers to pull it out for adjustment. I just swapped in an AW 18490 battery and it fits fine with the kick. No go with an 18650, not even close.
