Edit See posts below for other work tools

Just got a Kamry K300 for 45.95 from completevape.com with free shipping.

I was looking for something for work. I deliver somewhat heavy items to people's homes and tend to carry them close to the body. I also do a lot on kneeling and bending, and climbing in and out of a van. I have bent and smashed box packs of stinkys. I could see me breaking the clearo or tank on my ego style setup. I like the vivi nova and just got a glass version. I go through almost 2.5ml during the work day. I am not cloud chasing. Just looking for a tasty nic replacement device with all day battery and juice. 30 degree winter chills and 120+ summer heat. Something light color that won't burn my fingers when picking it up off of the dashboard. I have an Innokin MVP with stainless swivel tip. I love it but can see it being hot in the hand and burning my lips.

My thoughts on trying the K300. Tank cover will keep the tank safe. Tank is vivi nova style with removable oring tip. 18650 and 18350 batteries and tube extension plus wall charger included. That alone is worth about 20.00 to me so at worst I wasted 26. Size and shape should fit in my jeans pocket where my pack and lighter used to live. It also comes with a cloth covered hard case with room for extra juice and batteries.

Pros
x6 tank with common top coil, 510 thread, vivi nova fits in cover
cover protects tank
nice aluminum body with good threads, vented top cap
custom tip but others should work
common replaceable batteries
low tech, no fancy parts to go bad, just vapes
silver anodized finish, also black, green, red and stainless

Cons
comes with ICR batteries not IMR
heavy in pocket with 18650
bottom switch is somewhat difficult to push with the side of little finger
NO lockout device on pushbutton switch, in fact screwing switch cap all the way in contacts battery
requires custom tip or long tip but may wobble
will roll away like any other round thing
can't stand it on end because of switch (you can but not stable)
no passthrough or charging in device

Overall I like it and think it will suit my purpose. That switch bothers me though. No safety electronics or mechanical lockout. I'll have to figure something out or remove the switch when placing in pocket.
Can't wait to see how long the batteries will last. Hope to get a bdc tank in there.
Looking for a cozy for a beer bottle to drop it in while it sets in the van this summer. Or take the hard case with some Otter pops stuffed inside.
I makes vape just like my ego setups or my MVP with iClears and vivi novas.
Looks like I can drop it and have it survive. Tip may pop out but shouldn't break anything. Switch may get cosmetic damage but it is just a simple spring loaded plunger.
Even if I leave it home, it is a good simple vape tool that should last a long time.
Will update if anything changes.

Update
Factory video shows fuse disc and reverse thread lockout. This unit did not have either one. Came with ICR batteries that are not recommended for vaping according to ECF.

Left it lying on its side all night. No signs of leaks. Will leave it upside down tonight to see if it will be ok upside down in my pocket.

Glass vivi nova bdc fits well under cover. Will probably switch to it when I get a longer tip for it.

*do not use a kick with the ICR batteries*
I could add a kick device but that raises the price and defeats the purpose of having a simple, low tech device.

The factory video shows a fuse. I emailed the store to see if it was supposed to have one. A fuse won't stop a too long press though.

Every factory webpage states a locking firing button. I took it completely apart and it is just a pin, spring, and e-clip. No twist, pull, press that I can see to set a lock. I can unscrew the cap to the point that is won't make contact but that isn't going to be convenient.

If I pull the tip, and drop the unit top first into my pocket, it is unlikely that I will press the fire button enough. But I only need to do it once to have a bad result.

Possible kluges, trying to keep it simple with common items for other people:
Grind the post that holds the button shaft, allowing button to extend out of holder. Place bread bag clip in gap.
Notch holder so that paper clip or similar can be inserted preventing button from moving in.
Fashion a removable button.
Soft vinyl/plastic cap from hardware store to cover button.
L shape contact that can be turned 180. Insulate one half of contact area.

Damn. That kinda sucks. Your bread clip idea could work... or you could just find a plastic cap that fits over the whole button/bottom-o'-the-mod and use that as a sort of safety to prevent the button from being pressed. I have been playing with kydex and considering making some mod holsters... a kydex cap could work.

It is everything I wanted in a cheap low tech mod if it had a lockout. It is almost too heavy for my pocket. I carry a swiss type knife in a leather pouch on my belt. I could see carrying this in a belt pouch/holster. Nose down I wouldn't need to worry so much about the button. It is supposed to be a reverse thread backout ring. I can't find any seams, just a one piece alloy casting.

Show me your holsters when you finish.

Just found this at Desert Vapes

Vision Slip 18350 mod
This is a mini 3.7 volt chrome mod with a sealed 510 connector. The slip can work with a variety of 510 atomizers and cartomizers like Vivi nova.
With a 510 to eGo adapter (sold separately), the slip can work with Vision eGo Clearomizers and Vision Victory bottom coil tank clearomizer.
The Slip also has a rapid shut off feature. Five rapid pushes of the switch will turn the device on or off.
The mod accepts one 18350 li-ion battery. Battery not included.
IMR 18350 batteries work great in this mod.
Unit: 1pc
Color: Chrome
Button Led: Blue
Size: Diameter 21mm; Length 71mm
Threading: 510

At this time it is 16.95 at DV. I haven't shopped around yet. At 21mm you should be able to put a stainless vivi nova on top and have a fairly sturdy pocket tool. It could still break off at the 510 connector but you are only out the $10 tank or $17 mod and be without vape. Put it in a belt pouch and lower the chances. At least this has a 5 press shut off.

SMOK E300 at madvapes 44.95
E300 Bold Starter Kit, Black
This is a stylish mechanical mod starter kit. It comes with the complete E300 Bold mod, a tank with 2 replacement cartomizers, a drip tip, a battery and a charger. The mod features an adjustable positive pin, a magnetic bottom-mounted switch and a reverse-threaded locking ring. The body of the mod accepts an IMR 18350 battery and has 510 and eGo threading, allowing you to use virtually any atomizer you'd like. What makes this mod unique is that is has a "cage" that goes over your tank for extra protection. The included drip tip is a little longer than a standard drip tip so that you can use the device with the cage still attached.
Included:
1 x E300 Bold Mechanical Mod
1 x Cage Attachment
1 x U-DCT Pyrex Carto Tank
2 x 1.5-ohm Dual Coil Replacement Cartomizers
1 x IMR 18350 Battery
1 x BR-103 Li-Ion Battery Charger
1 x Unique Drip Tip

Looks like a copy of the Kamry. No extension tube for 18650. Cartomiser tank setup. One battery. Black or blue.

Went ahead and got this from desertvapes.com along with a usb passthrough and some more ET-S. Seems well manufactured as far as fit and finish. Nice weight and fit in hand. Same length as 650 ego. Has vent holes in the bottom cap. Button is larger than ego and light press. Top has large slots for air, 510 only. ViVi Nova makes contact before bottoming out on case. A ego to 510 adapter may save the threads and provide some support. Otherwise a simple washer may take up the gap and make a solid fit that could save the connection from dropping the unit on concrete. At the worst, I'm out the price of an ego battery.
