I remember growing up in southern Utah, family getting together for picnics and cook outs, there would be tons of people and even more food. As a kid, it was all fun. Looking back so many of those people are gone now and I miss each and everyone of them.

I can't imagine the pain that the families of all the fallen soldiers feel, they definitely deserve to be remembered and honored.

Memorial Day also means that my mother and I can open our little gift shop. Although we don't get summer people until July 4, at least if it's warm enough to be open, we stand a chance of making a little bit of extra money.

Ha! If I went, my wife would kill me for not taking her. I proposed to her on North Kaanapali Beach and we returned a year later for our honeymoon. She wouldn't mind me surfing and all--it would be because she wouldn't have the chance to dine at Mama's Fish House in Paia. But one day--when the kids are old enough (so we don't have to take them
)--we will be back. It's my favorite of the islands (although the Big Island isn't far behind).

I have a lot of friends in the military not to mention my father and father in law were also enlisted. SALUTE!
As for myself, I learned at a military school that I dont follow orders too well so I never enlisted.
