why re-wick a kanger evod? doing so will produce a more flavorful and plentiful vapor. and save money.
i do not replace the coil wire at all. just the wick here is how its done.
these are EVOD / Protank I II and Protank mini II coils

1969133_775299352488661_798958637_n.jpg the long tube on top will come off just pull it apart from the base
579223_775299329155330_1477650625_n.jpg the top 2 "favor wicks" will just fall out but the wick inside the coil needs to be gently pulled out. the round thing in the center of the gap is the coil...
1962709_775299295822000_190716213_n.jpg take your new wick and put a drop of e-liquid on the end of it and twist the wick in the direction that compresses the fibers well pushing gently into the coil, basically like threading a giant sewing needle. this pic is taken with the wick half way in the coil, after it is all the way in you want to check the spacing of the coils and make sure they are not to far spread out or touching one another. i use a small sewing needle to move the coils around if i need to fix the spacing. the gap in the center of the coils should be a bit wider than the rest. look for this gap when you take a new coil apart and you will see it.
1926948_775299272488669_1901787313_n.jpg put your flavor wicks back on top side by side, if you like. you don't need to use the flavor wicks but i like to leave one flavor wick in.
then push the top tube back on and trim the wicks (nail clippers work great) so they are flush with the base. after i trim the wicks i like to squeeze each end of the wick towards the center of the coil gently. this helps get the wick in contact with the coil.

you will need 2 mm wick and might want 1 mm wick (1mm is for the flavor wicks) i get my wick from this vendor Lightning Vapes - All the RBA Materials you need! Silica Wick, Ekowool, Kanthal Wire, Stainless Steel Mesh and more!

also i torch my wick with a butane torch before i install it. torching it until it glows white will remove any dust or skin oils and insure a good flavor every time.
here is a video of a 1.8 ohm coil re-wicked with one flavor wick in action. i drilled out the air flow holes on this EVOD tank to 2 MM.

What about when the coil gets gunked? :vapor:

well i swap out the wick every 2 or 3 days (3-6 mL) in that time the coil does not really get gunked up i might soak them in an airplane bottle of cheap vodka over night if they need it. but if you really let the thing get all gunked up, you want to dry burn on a low voltage / wattage with out the wick in. but do dont over do the dry burn or the coil will sag and deform.

i should also note that i use an evod or protank for travel around town. when im at home i use my dipper so i put most of my mileage on another device.
dripper build is here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cussion/498945-my-build-ego-octopus-mini.html

Excellent Posting! Thnaks for the pics. The Kanger T3s is my favorite atty, and is the same coil assembly you are showing. I have replaced the top wicks - but not the bottom ones. You have educated me.

Gunky coil remedy that I use is to save up all old coil assemblies in a jar (I must have 25) and soak them in denture cleaner (cheap tablets from WalMart) and warm water overnight. (Rinse thoroughly). Let dry, and do a short burn. This seems to remove the dark stains from both wicks as well as clean the baked on gunk from the wire coil. Yes, a few of the top wicks have needed replacement. Like some of my white socks, they just would not come clean. Tomorrow I will apply what you taught me tonight! Thanks!!

i don't know if i would use denture cleaner, seems like it would leave some residue behind. vodka will pretty much evaporate. but hey, whatever residue is left behind is probably better for you than smoking analogs.

Why do half a job when you can do it properly.

The stock coils are junk.
to properly replace the coil you need non-resistance wire that is arc welded to resistance wire. you can buy them here $3.25 Pre-made Welded Wires - NR-R-NR (100-Pack) 100-pack - 0.18mm (33 AWG) / 2.2ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
or you can look into building a non res wire to res wire arc welder, but the process to make one and using the arc welder could be very dangerous if you don't know what your doing.
there is no real reason to replace the coil but if you want to slap a different coil in go for it.

replacing the coil would be a totally different subject than we are discussing here.

Prob not. But if I could get that vape with an EGO battery, I would still rather pay someone else to rebuild/build it for me.
You game?

do you get this level of performance out of a Factory stock EVOD tank and 1.8 ohm Coil?

because i never have.

sure an ego twist or an ego regulated at 3.7 volts could do the trick. (in that video it was running at 3.8 volts)

sorry and thanks for the offer, but unfortunately im not in the business of selling vape gear.

but im more than happy to show people how to modify the gear for free.. :vapor:
feel free to hit me up here or PM me if you have questions!

if you give me i bit i think i know of a vendor that sells modified evod / protank coils
might take me a while to find but i will PM you the link. never tried them before so i cant say anything good or bad about them.
