I have a bunch of PT/eVod heads....30 plus, that I haven't used because they are funky in one way or another. It doesn't seem to matter if they have the ohms laser etched or not... I bought them all to be 1.8ohms. Allowing for some variance of factory coils, some are reading around 2, most are reading about 3.49, with some as high as 5.29!!!

I would like to strip them all down and use the hardware to build my own coils, but with so many variances in build style, how do I know which are worth keeping for diy, and which are better tossed? Here's a pic:

See how some have the silicone at the bottom and top of where the wicks emerge, and some are missing the bottom? Also, some posts are long, some are short, some are ribbed for the entire length and some are only ribbed in the top third...
Also, as you can see with the bottom two chimneys, some are angled, and some are straight up and down in the area where the wick would come out.

Any insight or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

On my phone as usual...

If you are still using the devices for these attys I would definitely keep the wholes to use in rotation and the parts as spares.

I rinse mine in hot water then pop them apart (remove the chmney piece), remove the 2 silica flavor wicks, then soak them in vodka overnight. Next day, re-rinse then dry burn them by putting each in a Kanger base and with your APV at a lower setting,, say 5 volts, pulse the power until smoke stops appearing from the coil fires bright.

Then get yourself some more silica (or in my case 100% cotton yard) to add back as the flavor wicks, pop them together and you're good to go. I like that if one of my attys (the units you are asking about) starts to taste burny I can quickly replace it, clean that one that came out, and go on.

Edit: the most likely reason the resistance is all over the place is that when the coils start to junk up the are unable to transfer heat to the juice, which causes the coil to superheat, changing its resistance. Dry burning the coil fixes that.

I appreciate your input, Miata. My problem is not replacing the wicks or rebuilding them per se, my issue is that between the real ones and the fakes, how do I know which Parts to keep and which to toss. Perhaps I should have been more clear. The wholes that actually read 2.2 ohms or less and don't have burnt coils I obviously am keeping in rotation. But out of the 30+ that I have purchased, exactly 5 meet that parameter.

I am in the same boat as you as far as a mixture of reals and fakes, and different resistances, for the T3Ss I use them in but I also use them on a vw device so resistance never matters. If I did use them on a vv device I would just adjust to taste, it's either that or throw them away and is don't like seeing vaping as a string of disposable attys.

Thank you both. While everything in me is frustrated enough to chuck them and start fresh, I don't want to waste money. Also,
Where can I find Authentic heads at a reasonable price?!
Some sites are selling what they call "kanger heads" at $6 a five pack. Others are selling them at $2.49 a piece!

Keep them all. The ones that are tasting used up even after cleaning, toss in a rebuild pile. Keep a pieces parts pile, too. I wish I'd considered all that early on. And I do keep a blister pack of stock coils in my purse for emergencies. I get those ALWAYS from Discount Vapers. Never had an issue with them at all. Super fast shipping, good folks, too.
