I've been rebuilding these a little since I've started using the Nanos. This is 5/4 wraps around 1/8" of 4-strand twisted 30g. Rings in at 0.75.

Got a few other iterations to try.... Pleased with this

Looks good, not fully familiar with the thread you used (nickle, twisted kanthal? or erm, iron rope or something lol). Does it vape better then normal kanthal? I am VERY interested in the subtank of Kanger (even after the disaster called the PT2, i even get mad just typing the name, so much problems) but i'm not sure which version to get. I am thinking of going for the big one, since i have a taifun and with the RBA deck it should hold as much as the taifun (perfect for me). Wonder only how it vaped compared to say taifun/kayfun/orchid and a dripper like the magma. I heard people compare it to the kayfun but i myself don't like the vape i am getting out of the KF. But then again, an RBA that vaped like the KF/TF while going 0.5 ohm just seems too sweet of a deal.

Gonna read a bit more about this tank and hope you could give some information. When i get one, i'll make sure to post something here too :)

Sankara, I used 4 strands of 30g kanthal. I've found it's too thick for the OCC heads (I only have the Nano tank right now - I'm looking at a Mini, though as the full-sized is just too big for me.) My resistance readings were all over the board when I'd fire it (was trying around 20W) One nice hit, and then a bunch of burnt hits. I'm going to have to back off and either try a parallel (two strands of 30g) or two strands twisted. I won't be able to get the ohms low enough, but that's o.k.

I have a couple of kayfun (clones). I have the 4-strand on one of them right now, and it's pretty nice. I think it meters out to about 0.8-0.9 ohms. Running it about 15W. I like playing with different builds, now that I'm starting to get a little better. I'd struggled with wicking issues until I finally started building bigger coils (was doing 1/16" micro coils, but too many dry hits.) Now at least 3/32", but more like 1/8" and organic cotton.

My daily tanks are the PT2s!!! I don't have any problems with them. I have been rebuilding the heads - no leaking, no gurgling, no dry hits.... I do have the airflow controllers on them, and I think that's made a huge difference.

I'd be curious to see the RBA deck of the ST or the ST Mini....

ah tnx for the reply. I never tried multiple strands of kanthal. Have that cool wicking tool coming in (forgot its name), that should make it building a coil with multiple strands.

And yeah i also got the AFC and have been rebuilding the heads to but really, i just gave the PT2 up :p It just frustrates me reading other people going 'wha? i love it man, best thing ever, never had problems with it' (like you just did lol) while it only gave me problems and problems.

I am going to open a new topic i guess to ask which version of the sub tank would be better. When that tool arrives, gonna screw around with multiple strands too :) so tnx for the idea.

I'm getting one of those coil thingys too. Coming on slow boat from China ;)

I came across a post somewhere that referenced a fellow who merely takes a pen with a pocket clip and twists his wire. Found the video on YouTube (there are actually quite a few out there.) I tried it with my 30g, and it works incredibly well. Take a length of wire (I used about one foot) and twisted the cut ends. Held those with some pliers while clipping the loop end on the pen. Then, just roll the pen on your thigh or some flat surface while holding the other end. Once you've gotten it as tight as you'd like, remove the looped end from the pen cap. The 30g now is more like 28g in rigidity.

From what I understand about the coil tool, twisted and parallel should work well in that, as well as single-strand...

Good Luck - I'm still keeping my eye on the ST Mini. I just think the full-sized will be too big for my liking (like my full-sized Nautilus tanks are :p)

Quick update.... the 0.5ohm quad-strand jumped all over when I was firing, so I disassembled. I wanted to try something else, so I did a triple-strand of 30g, 5 wraps around 1/8" bit. Rings in at 0.86 ohms. Fires more consistently. Running pretty decent. Only reason I'm playing with the twisted is that I don't have any 26g on hand at the moment.
