Just got a pro tank--I'm pretty new to vaping. The coil said 2.5 ohms, but when I checked it on my vamo it registered 3.2 ohms. Over the course of the day the resistance kept falling, last check it was 1.7 ohms. Is this a bad coil? Replaced it with new coil and it seems to be working ok now. Just curious. Don't know if I'm posting in the right place, new to this message board. Tried to reply on a pro tank thread and it wouldn't let me. Anybody know why? I smoked 3 packs of cigs a day for 40 years, but have not had a cig now for 18 days, really no desire. vaping rules!!! Bob

Not sure what is going on with that first coil, while it is not unusual for a coil to vary ( +/- .02 ohms ) from its stated value, or for the resistance to drop on a warm coil, compared to a cold coil. The variance you reported is way out of the ordinary, I would say you nailed it, bad coil. Glad your new one is working right.

Welcome to the Forum and let your vaping journey begin.

I've gotten a few bad heads that didn't read right. In fact, got a new Protank on Friday that started off at 2.0 Ohms (marked as 2.5) and quickly worked up to 9.9 Ohms. Threw it out, tossed a new one in there and all is good.

Out of the several heads I have in rotation, only 2 or 3 have gone bad like that where it either shoots up or drops like a rock. It happens.

Hi hawkeye46 - welcome to ECF. Congrats on switching to vaping. As a new member, I think you have to have so many posts before going into some of the other forums or it could be that post is closed. Not sure. Anyway it sounds that you may just had a bad head there. I find that my protank heads although they say they are 2.5 ohms do register a little higher or lower. The Protank is a great tank system and if the resistance registers at 2.2 or 2.7 ohms, I would not to almarmed at that. These items are mass produced to keep costs down, so fluctuations in resistance can be expected IMHO. If its vaping ok and taste ok, I wouldn't be to concerned.
