Hi, everyone, I'm new to the forum (I've been lurking in the backgroung reading for a month). I'm 4 weeks of cigs today!
I might be barking up the wrong tree here, so any feedback would be great...
I have 4 Kanger PT2's and have had mixed success, the first 2 i bought from a shop in Birmingham (UK) Innovappours, they are great and have given me no problems, I haven't had to do anything to them, other than clean them out every so often. I do sometimes get a mild burnt taste if I turn it up too much but nothing major (11% Nic 80% PG / 20% VG) using a Vamo. Thought these were great so a bought another 2, the second time off ebay (listed as genuine) - these I have had loads of problems with; They came in what looked like the correct packaging with the Kanger hologram seal, however there was no beauty ring in the 2nd 2 that I bought, the image on the box is fainter that the first ones I bought and the red colour on the box is a bit darker. These have gurgled, tasted burt and the drip tip that came with one, just falls out it's so loose. Are there a lot of fake kanger pT2's floating around or have I just got a different batch and they are inconsitent with the quality? The lack of beauty rings and subtle differences in the box make me think fake, but wondered if anyone knew? Opinion seems so divided on these tanks I wondered if that was the reason? I also bought some heads for them off ebay, again in all the correct packaging but the box says 2.2 and my Vamo measures them at 2.7!

You gotta be real careful buying off ebay. The fact that they didn't come with a beauty ring would suggest they are a knockoff/clone. I know recently Kanger has started putting a scratch off on their boxes that has a code for authenticity checks. I wouldn't buy a Kanger product that doesn't have those and defintely not from ebay. That's just my opinion some people have more success with ebay than others.

There's more fake ProTanks than there are fake KayFun Lites :)

myepack.co.uk sells genuine Kanger and Innokin products at good prices.

Thanks, I didn't know about the scratch off panel, I will keep an eye out for it. I am definately off buying from ebay, tempted by the price but it's not worth saving £2 if it's rubbish. I actually bought 2 which were obviously fake and returned them to one buyer, then picked someone else who had added the word "genuine" to the title!! I clearly don't learn too quickly by my own mistakes! lol.

all the stock coils that came with my pt2 sucked..bad ..then i ordered kanger original 1.8 ohm coils and have never had issues again..i have noticed if the tank is half full it will try to flood..i keep it topped off..i also have a friend who has tried my device and she can get it too flood
i think she SUCKS too hard..never thought i would say that ...lol...
now that i rebuild all my pt coils and wick with cotton i have achieved kanger bliss except for the fact that im running out of my favorite juice and i have to go to work and i cant get any more..im starting to get worried....theres only abought 1 ml left..oh well theres always backups but there not as tasty as this BIG CLOUD ELUSIVE flavor

I did buy some 3mm silca wick and Kanther 32 awg wire and try making my own, no problem with making them, no flooding, or gurgling. cam out at about 1.9 Ohms, but get a really bad (I think burnt) taste everytime. I've made 4 now all with the same result. Can't work it out.

P.S. I know PT2's usually have a 2mm wick & 1 mm flavour wick, but I had seen a review saying that they had had great results dropping the flavour wick and just using a 3mm wick. Again I bought these supplies off ebay, so wondering if there could be something wrong with the wire / wick. I did buy some more from a shop yesterday but haven't had chance to give it a go yet. If I use cotton does it have to be a certain type? (I know I need to boil it first)

The 4 atomizers on the right all taste burnt, i grabbed a new one out, stuck it in the protank, filled it up, and flipped it over to let the wick soak so when i try it again i might get better results, the atomizers are 2.4 ohms +- .2 ohms

Can't say for sure on the tank itself (other than the place where you bought it should be shot for the price) but the replacement coils you got are not Kanger.

FWIW, between my wife and I we have and use a total 5 ProTank 2's, both full sized and mini's. I will admit an occasional problem but nothing to the extent your describing. Now, however I don't even fire a stock coil, I break them down, re-coil with a micro and wick with cotton. Almost the same vape performance of my $150+ atty's but at 1/10th the price.

If you've been dry-burning the heads it's possible to burn the grommet on the bottom of the Kanger heads - the old ones were rubber and burned, the new ones are silicone and are more heat-resistant.

Thanks! I dry burn all the time as I thought it was the best way to clean the gunk off the heads so that makes sense. When I built the coils I dry burnt it to see if there where any hotspots, they are the heads with the rubber, but I do have some silicone one so will try it (I wondered why they where a different colour at the bottom, makes sense now!).

I can't run my PT2 on my eGo-T Upgrade at all - it sputters and gives aborted hits and generally sux. But on my Vision Spinner it is indeed awesome (which is why I took a picture of it for my avatar). I don't even have to crank it, it just seems to work like a champ on that battery.

Seriously, I'm honking on it right now and it is perfect. It seemed to have a breaking-in period, or maybe that was just me figuring it all out, but overall I'm very happy with it.

Like I've posted in another thread, I almost gave up with the PT2. (First time at using tanks.) It's mostly the gurgling issue. I tried cleaning it, but I don't think you could ever clean these things. Only way to clean them is to start fresh by changing their coils. By this time my two ordered RBA's arrived, and so I was into rebuilding these things. Long story short, the gurgling disappeared and never came back. It is smoking perfectly no matter what battery it's used, VV, mech mod, etc. What's surprising to me is it's indicating 3 ohms in my VV. I never though resistances that high would still work in 3.7v devices.

The burnt taste obviously indicates it's not wicking properly. But I never had those. The gurgling disappeared in my case. I'll never know why. But try blowing it over a napkin, then turn it upside down for a few minutes.

I want to apologize to the OP for my brash short answer at first

The Protank 2 is a good device, it just takes some tweaking and yes...it SHOULD work out of the box..especially how much you paid for it

I am not sure if you tried the cotton wick, there is a way to determine if you have enough cotton, too much and it chokes it, too little and it oozes and leaks...I find fluffing the cotton up a bit, then rolling it into a string that is about the width of the silica. Also found that if I back off the bottom of the tank a 1/4 to 1/2 turn it vapes better.

Also when it starts gurgling, unscrew it, look at the 510 see if it's full of juice, if it is, take a paper towel fold into a point, wipe it out, then take the tank over a piece of paper towel like you are going to vape but blow thru the tank, the extra juice will poof out, then try vaping again

I am sorry you are having such a hard time..I have known clones with known clone heads and they work good but I do have to fiddle a little with em to vape...but when they hit...they hit AWESOME

Once again sorry for coming off so harsh...

My ProTanks have always vaped like champs. I'm not going to say they're the best anything, but they definitely are not the worst anything either and they do get the job done. Ive said this on a few other "My ProTank don't work" threads, a little maintenance, caution, and common sense is usually all it takes to remedy the issues. The very few and minor issues Ive ever encountered were always caused by my own error and easily remedied.... I originally had no intent to post in this thread but I get tired of seeing salesmen and bandwagon lynch mob recruits pop up vs people with real and genuine advice/tips to the original issue.

Ever wonder if maybe your liquid is the culprit?
You cleaning everything properly? Then reassembling properly?
As two people ( I believe it was two anyway ) have pointed out that your coil heads are knock offs, you may want to invest in some genuine Kanger ones.
I will also agree with the fact that a lot of youtube vape guys do ramble on and show off their vaping prowess a little too much at times, but believe it or not some of them actually know what they're talking about, go figure.

Well friend I wish you all the luck in the world with your vaping experiences, and I'm glad you chose to include "I" in your title, saying its the worst tank in general would be very misleading.

The amount of controversy over the BC's is truly mind boggling.

People either hate them or love them; I happen to belong to the latter group.

I ordered a whole bunch of obvious clones from FT in different colors and styles, because I like to vape different flavors during the day. The colors help me keep the flavors apart.

These were very cheap. I have had a few small issues with the factory and clone heads, but I rebuild them anyway.

The BC's are great for me because they do not leak when I am travelling which is a lot. My genesis style just do not travel well and are a pain to rebuild when travelling. I carry spare heads for my BC's, and it only takes me a few seconds to replace one.

I do not like the taste of the top coils. Carto tanks work fine, but when the carto goes, they leak. I simply cannot afford to have stains on my clothes when calling on clients and expect them to pay me ridiculous consulting fees.

A vaping friend and I were having the same discussion. She hates them.

So I gave her one of my rebuilt Mini clones and filled it with her juice (Bobba's Bounty). She started to gag after the first few vapes.

I dropped it into a hot US with baking soda and refilled it with my juice-DIY apple pie 70/30 PG with 8mg. of nic. No problems!

She takes incredibly long, deep drags of high power, high nic juice. If I had smoked a cigarette like that, I would have blown a hole through the back of my head.

I am more of a puffer at medium power.

Moral of the story: the BC's are not for everyone.

Too much depends on your vaping habits and juices. I have not seen any real changes based on my device, and I use everything from twists and Itaste VV when travelling to big battery mods at home/office.

Simultaneously sadly and happily, there are just too many combinations and choices available to state that there is such a thing as a universal vape. It can get to be confusing, frustrating, and expensive to sort through all the stuff available in order to find your sweet spot.

You will make poor choices for your particular style of vaping, and it will cost you money. How many different smoking choices are out there in brands of cigarettes, not to mention cigars, pipes, tobaccos, roll your own? How many have you tried? Why should vaping be any different?

Try something. If it does not work, maybe tinker with it a bit if you are so inclined, then move on. Just stay off the analogs!!!!!!!!!!

Just bear in mind that every time liquid is involved (and burning it), issues are bound to arise. Ten coils exactly manufactured the same way, one or two will have issues. There's just too many combinations of factors that result in failure, ie, liquid too thin or thick, etc. I for one will never know why the gurgling stopped completely in my first PT. But it took many trials and errors, ie, indication of low load, short, etc. to get it to work without issues. Main advantage I see with these PTs is that once they work, they work. And they also are relatively small and they don't require massive coils, in fact it's tiny and that tiny produces acceptable amount of vapor. You can even turn them upside down without causing issues. And they can be filled to last you a day or two, good enough to take it with you when traveling. I also take with me the traditional cartomizers for emergencies.
