So I just ordered a Naturally Extracted tobacco flavor from Mountain Oaks Vapors, I bought a Protank II from Discount Vapors, and got an eGo Twist 1100mah or whatever Clone (equivalent to 930mah or such, according to fasttech, as it's a cheap clone) and charger set from fasttech. It all came to exactly $49.89 or so, which was a miracle because I had only a $50 Visa pre-paid gift card for my budget.

Some care questions though; with my Protank II, how do I care for it? Some people say there's a heavy oil residue, how to I most safely wash it to make sure I'm not inhaling oily stuff? And washing it for the future, how would that entail?

Also, how to I make sure the wick is nice and soaked? Do I just let it sit? Do I suck on it a bit without pressing the button?

And with the charger I got, it's a 4.2V, and the Twist goes up to 4.8V, is anything wrong with that?

Anyway, I got my MOV NET in today, which did fine in the cheap bubble envelope they offer; it's a pretty thick glass bottle! I can't wait to try it out once the other stuff comes in (which will probably be two weeks :/).

Did you get a genuine Kanger ProTank II, or a knockoff? FastTech sells both.

Post the link to the FastTech SKU from your order.

Care and cleaning are easy. When you open the package, wash it in the hottest, non boiling water you can provide. I do mine straight out of the tap at 170 F (I like my hot water HOT). Put all of the parts in a mixing bowl or measuring cup and let the water run for a bit.

Let it dry for a while, fill and go.

The nominal voltage on your battery is actually 3.7v. Your charger will, if it's a good one, charge it to 4.2v and stop.

The Twist allows you to up the voltage delivered to the atomizer, topping out at 4.8v. However, doing so will drain your battery faster.

The charger voltage refers to how many volts are delivered to the battery. The battery output voltage refers to how many volts your battery is capable of delivering to the load.

Being fearful of so many complaints of bad taste from the PT, I initially washed it out with Dawn & hot water & a thorough rinse. Then I rinsed it with a splash of Everclear including the head & wick/coil. Let it evaporate for the most part & then filled it up & waited maybe 1/2 hr. A couple non powered hits & it was good to go.
Never got any of the bad tastes people have complained about.

Nah, I ordered the Protank II from Discount Vapors - saw some posts where folks who ordered from there all got a good product and a tank skirt as a bonus, so I have my fingers crossed. There were better deals on other sites for Labor Day, deals that probably would have allowed me to buy a real Twist and charger set. Sadly, I waited til the 3rd, and Discount Vapors had the best regular price for the tank - 18.99 or so.

I decided I wouldn't skimp on the juice or tank, went the whole hog for those. The battery and charger, I'm worried because they are clones and cheap models (the charger set was only $3.00 and just seemed to be made for regular ego batteries) and of coarse I'm afraid of explosions or fires. I would have went the whole hog on those too, just didn't have the money. If nothing else, it's the cheapest loss though - $15 for what I got on Fasttech.

Anyone have any reviews about how well the wicks wick? The NET's from MOV are high in VG I believe, but are said to be thin concerning the liquid texture. The only thing I'm worried about now is that it just won't wick well. Some say that removing one of the wicks just leads to flooding.

It may take some fiddling to initially figure it out, but you should be able to get PT heads to work properly with any type of juice.

My PT 1 wicks fine with 100VG. I would try it like it comes first then if you have problems you can consider pulling out a flavor wick.
[or two]. They say those wicks are there for a reason & so far I believe it. No floods, leaks, etc. Just fine.
Good luck & have fun with your new stuff. I really like mine.

So my Protank II came in (with a tank skirt!) and there was an extra rubber ring floating around in the box. I checked the bottom base and the drip tip, but they seem to have their rings. It's about the size that'd fit a drip tip. Does anyone know if it usually comes with this extra ring, or did a ring come off of some part?

Also, with the glass part, mid-bottom base, and head, do they just pull off or do they unscrew? I don't wanna break it!

Caring for the Protank is easy. I usually vape through two tank fulls (I vape through that in a single day)...and then take it apart, rinse it all in hot water (including head an wicks), put it back together, fill it, and start vaping. The first few vapes will truly be water vapor from what's left over from the rinse, but it doesn't take long for the juice to start wicking in once the water vapes off. There's really no need to let it set and dry, when you have a red hot coil that will dry it within a few vapes.

While I agree, you can start using the tank right away. The coil had best NOT be red hot. The only time a coil should EVER glow is when dry. As the coil heats e-liquid, e-liquid cools the coil.

If an E-liquid starts to taste Foul in your tank, more than a rinse may be in order. A good soak in Grain alcohol or Vodka, a dry burn or even a rebuild/replacement. Coils are a disposable wear item.

Well, what sucks is I don't have vodka or vinegar, and I'm a little afraid to soak my wick and things in hand soap; there's gonna be chemical particles that get inhaled, just like how no matter how much you wash out your hair, shampoo and conditioner residue, even microscopic, will ultimately be in it when it dries. I'd rather inhale vinegar or vodka, but no money for that.

About boiling the protank which I've heard of, does the bottom of the pan/pot burn the stainless steel, wick material, or does it fry the bands?

A pint of cheap Vodka shouldn't be more than a few bucks. Youre not drinking it just need a bit to clean with.

Ive washed heads/parts in Dawn dish soap before without issue, if you rinse properly you wont have a problem.

Im sure you'd be fine boiling the PT but that seems kinda extreme, and i question how good it is to boil the silicone o-rings/head grommets etc.

So the glass chamber and all that, you unscrew those parts too? And with the heads, do you just soak those in water too, the whole thing?

When you unscrew the top of the PT2, the shaft unscrews from the bottom part holding the glass in place. Take it apart once, and you'll see what I mean.

I don't bother with vodka (there never seems to be any left when I'm ready to clean, for some reason) or vinegar. Super hot water straight from the tap, running over the disassembled unit in a mixing bowl or measuring cup. I let it soak, let it dry, fill, and go.

I soak my heads in room temperature for a few hours and dry burn them until they glow read evenly. The rest of the tank I just take apart and wash in the sink under running water, no soap. Never had any issues with flavor creep doing it this way. With darker juices, I never got more than 2 days until the heads needed service. One in the tank and one clean and waiting to swap out. Haven't had a coil fail yet, so I can't tell you how long these last doing it the way I do.
