Kanger Sub Tank Mini 510 thread issue

Hi Guys & Gals.

I'm a long time lurker, but just started posting today.

I recently ordered a Kanger Subtank mini from MyFreedomSmokes (These guys have been great)

When I received it, I could not thread it onto my ipv mini 2. I tried it on my Nemesis and the 510 connector wouldn't catch the threads at all. So it appears that the 510 connector/threads are too small. Has anybody else had this issue?

I reached out to MyFreedomSmokes and they are going to send me out a new base, but they haven't seen this issue yet.

Actually the threading looks close, but the diameter looks off. Hard to tell with shadows. Have you verified authenticity?

I just verified the authenticity via the ID & hologram on the outside of the box.

It's strange for sure, I just compared it to my mini and it appears to have the exact same number of threads. Is there maybe a machining burr along the first thread that is preventing it from grabbing?

These things are mass produced. I guess it's possible you just happened to get a bad one. I have a mini and it screws onto everything just fine.

The diameter looks off. Probably a defect which somehow made it passed QC...

It's hot dog down a hall way loose. No twisting required, it just goes straight down.
Oh well, authenticity checks out, MyFreedomSmokes is sending me a new base. We'll see what happens.
I wanted to try it this weekend, but it looks like i'll have to wait.

You can increase the OD of the connection by wrapping it in Teflon thread tape...

The comparison in the second pic you provided looks like the threads are exactly the same diameter, or at the very least close enough that the ST shouldn't just pass the mod threads completely while the Atlantis screws in just fine....odd.

you definitely just got one from a "bad batch" i literally had mine delivered yesterday and had no problem whatsoever connecting it to my 2 mech mods and my regulated mod.

let us know what happens when you get the new base.

Same thing just happened to me. Received a ST mini and an IPV mini 2 from MyVaporStore. Both appear to be authentic. Straight out of the box, the subtank would not even begin to catch the threads on the IPV mini 2. After trying many different combos with the two brand new items I have come to the conclusion that not only are the threads on the subtank mini too small there is substantial slop in the threads on the IPV mini 2 (NOT - YOTG special edition). I tried the ST mini in about 6-7 tube mods and a couple of box mods, two of which the threads barely touched and were able to go in without turning. The IPV mini 2 is not quite as bad. Most every atty atleast snugs up properly but much like a connector that has had an atty installed/removed a hundred times. Contacted MVS about the ST mini but now worried about the IPV mini 2 as well.

You must have gotten a bad one as Mike said.
I have both and no problems with either one.

MVS already sent a tracking # for the replacement base. I have a feeling I was not the first person this happened to. Just happen to see how prevalent the problem is. Would have never reported it in a forum due to the excellent service from them, but I think more people should. That combo has likely been sold countless times in the last couple of months.

I also just received a Kanger sub tank mini with bad 510 threads from MVS. It almost just falls into the 510 fitting on several of my mods. I measured outside diameter of the 510 connector on a few of my atys that fit good and they measure .271 inches or 6.92mm. The new kanger with the bad threads measured .260 or 6.59mm. Luckily MVS is shipping me a new air flow base tomorrow. Gotta love their customer support. Super fast and friendly..

Sorry, forgot to update. They shipped and I am using it now. Definitely a QC issue with Kanger. Ironically I had to send back my IPV mini 2 from the same order. Threads were quite sloppy on it as well.

my st mini also threads just fine onto my ipv mini 2. although the threads on my ipv mini 2 make whatever i screw onto it a little titled to one side.

At 1st i was unsure if it was the ST mini threads or the new eleaf istick 50w that i ordered with the tank. So i tried it on 2 of my siegeli's, my mvp30, dna 40, and an unregulated box i built. Then i got out the dial calipers. Seems to be a kanger quality issue. Really like my kanger tanks using the rebuildable coil deck. Hope they get it sorted before i decide to no longer buy kanger.
