Hi veeps

i could have put this under one of the previously posted KST threads but, well I am me and decided to start new.

I just oust switched from the pre-built coil heads to building my own coils and although I enjoyed making my 1st coil, I am having an issue.
lol so here are the details on my build

Kanthal 28g on 2mm coil builder/screwdriver
6 wraps
reading 1.3ohm
using the Japanses cotton and all fluff led and tucked into the juice channels at bottom of deck.
Saturated the cotton, then filled tank
built the tank up perfectly / double checked everything
let everything sit for necessary time to ensure juice has done it's thing etc.
couple of primer puffs

i have fired the Sigelei 100w from 10w up to the 13w range and I get the burnt hits.

I've mouth to lung inhales and get the burnt taste on the 2nd draw
Made lung inhales and getting the burnt dry hit pretty quick.

Airflow ow adjusted from smaller to widest setting.

ALSO.i've adjusted my wick thickness as I may have used too much for the diameter of the coil. Presently the cotton is just right with applying through coil with thumb and index finger with what feels correct tension (if that makes sense)

This is my 3rd attempt and hate that bad hit.
I refuse to go back to pre-built but I really will appreciate help.

Thanking you in advance

Thanks Congaman and I dbl checked.
I have worked on this, viewed the tube, scoured ECF and had to visit my local store for some juice.
We worked on the matter extensively and the store owner used his own mech mod. Everything was good and no dry hits, until we used my Sig

An hour of work and the matter is sorted.... But involved a new Sigelei 100w
My supplier (that knows his stuff) is of the impression the box was the problem and simply gave me a new piece of hardware.
I can't sing enough praises to my local B&M store. His answer was, "you've spent more than enough with me and if your equipment is failing then I stand by my customers"

I think your Sigelei100w was probably the culprit here as you say. I've burned up an Atlantis head when the tank loosened up on the 510 connector while jammed in my pocket. The ohms read higher and the volts cranked up and wham burnt hit and coil. Similar thing happened with my Subtank, but i keep the watts so low when I vape it that even with the jump in volts it wasnt burnt just warmer than I prefer.

I try to always check/tighten the atomizer now before I even push the button. Cheers!

I am having an issue with the RBA section. The OCC prebuilt .5 ohm coils work perfectly. I have built a few different coils at .6 ohms in different configurations. Micro coil and a spaced wrap coil. I've wicked a few different ways and if I go over 20 watts I get a burnt taste. I have the 25mm Subtank on an IPV mini for all the info you might need. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong or tweaks I can make to get rid of the burnt taste?

I've noticed some dry hits when the coil diameter is too small/tight. I'm also not sure if the juice holes need to be uncovered like a Kayfun. I have been playing around with it a little and it seems like when the juice holes are covered with wick, it feeds better. But you don't want to jam the wick down too much either. It should be a good fit without too much extra wick in there. I don't have a precise tool available to measure the wrap diameter but here's some pics of the wicks I've been building, it's 26g with about 8 wraps at 1.0 ohms....

This one was wicking very well...

However, I noticed this particular build was not giving me any air bubbles on one side. I assume that means it wasn't wicking on that side. I was careful to take it apart without disturbing the wick...and as you see, there's too much of a gap on this side..

Oddly, it was still vaping well with only one functional side, but I wanted to investigate the lack of bubbles. Sorry, can't get better close-up shots with my phone. Hope this might help for someone. :vapor:
