Hi there! I'm still somewhat new to the vaping community. I quit cigarettes a year and two months ago thanks to my wonderful father, who bought me my first mod as a gift. Since then I've gone through several mods and it's become a sort of a life-saver for me. I can breathe better and I smell things now! I also don't smell like an ashtray anymore! Anyway, all that aside -
I have been using an MVP itaste for a few months because my lovely ProVari died (the glue holding the chip to the top came off). I have enjoyed it, it's not terrible, probably not the best but it works for me. It also has a rhinestone skull on it so I look pretty mean with it! Then I decided to get an awesome Kanger Aerotank Mega to replace the awful one that came with it and I absolutely love it (it also doubles as a nice defensive weapon if I have the stainless steel tube on instead of the glass - hah jokes)! I've never had any problems with it - just the coils (some rather unfortunate batches of bad coils for a bit there). I then decided I wanted less resistance than the regular 2.0 coils I was using so I started looking at subohm coils. I read some that hated it and some that loved it. Oh well, what's the harm in trying, right?
I've read on these forums where people were having issues with dry-hitting on the subohm coils and there were ranges of culprits being identified, such as the level of vg/pg, priming, steeping, nic levels, etc. I'm not even sure what steeping is used for but eh.. anyway. My issue personally was that I would take the first hit and be fine (all coils in these examples are primed first), second hit would be fine, third hit would be completely dry and harsh. I'd set it down for a few minutes and then pick it back up again, prime it and then the process would repeat. I'm a chain vaper and it's been bugging the crap out of me that I can't sit there and unconsciously do what I love doing. I tried changing the voltage, tried making the airflow hole smaller, tried changing coils, tried different level vg juices, etc. Nothing worked! So how did I fix it?
I googled "subohm dry hit issues" and I landed here on this lovely forum. Seems I wasn't the only one having this issue. Now in a post someone mentioned poking the cotton with a needle where it's exposed at the holes. I did just that... and it worked! I've been sitting here vaping away while writing this post and not a dry hit in the lot of them. I only slightly poked the holes, so don't get crazy because I don't know that that's a good idea. They also said to make sure it is primed with juice before you do it. They also said they hadn't tried it yet so I thought I would. I just wanted to let anyone else that's having this issue know that this worked for me.
