kanger subtank mini drip tip gets hot way to fast?

Hello fellow vapers,
i just got my isteak 50w along with a kanger subtank mini.
It does not matter which wattage or coil i use (.5 or 1.2 omh) my drip tip gets hot in a puff or two. I mean way hot, burns my lip. I have to put in down for 5 mins or so. WHICH in my eyes defeats the purpose of my purchase.
a) i wanted to make nice fuffy clouds
b) chain vape

What am i doing wrong?

Note:
-that i'm slowly inhaling in a lung hit.
-per the reveiws i've read my tank should be great for high voltage and cloud chasing?
-when I put it to 20 to 30w with my 1.2ohm it boils in my mouth.
thanks for your advise.

You're running too high a wattage for the coil you are using.

I run my Subtank mini off an Eleaf Istick 30W, I like a cooler vape so I use the 1.2 coil at 19.5 Watt, perfect for me...It's shouldn't be hot like that at all, have you tried some different juice...although I doubt it's that, no idea tbh...just turn down the wattage and go from there.

I hated the stock drip tip so got myself a custom made one from Juice Trap, much narrower than stock and a much better flavour and vape, plus it looks awesome..Great service too !

Wow
thank you for all the advise.
To answer inTheShade's question, yes i get a burnt taste and then right after i got a dry hits repeatedly with my 1.2 ohm. I figured i blew my coil by experimenting with high voltage.
I changed it back to my .5 and lowered the heat, which i get way better flavor but yet a quickly hot drip tip. I will look into getting a pyrex, derlin drip tip. I will try a faster hit with airflow open high.

My next question then would be, what coil/tank do i need to burn at 50w or did i just get this machine for nothing?

Just because you got a mod capable of churning out 50 watts doesn't necessarily mean you need to push it to 50 watts. Just like you don't need to drive your car at 130 mph just because it is capable of reach 130 mph. Also remember that the iStick 50 is capable of running a coil all the way down at 0.2 ohms. If you had a 0.2 ohm coil and you were running it at 3 volts, that would require 45 watts (3 x 3 divided by 0.2 equals 45). So the capability is there should you decided to use the RBA and make a lower ohm coil.

Warning to all Kangertech user.

Recently, we get feed back from customers of getting burn taste of their OCC premade coil. Finally we get their Authenticity codes which are clone and hence they got the clone coils. Kangertech suggest all user to check the Authenticity code before they purchase it. User is more safe to purchase from Kangertech formal distributors or the vapor shop.

Sitting here at my desk running a .11Ω Ni200 (nickel) coil at 500F with 28w and metal drip tip on my Subtank Mini. Not hot at all. The vape is warm but the tip stays cool. Of course I am lung hitting pretty hard drawing enough air across the coil such that it doesn't get hot.

I'd have to agree with others in that you have the wattage too high for the soft draw you are taking on it. Either turn down the wattage, open your air flow or draw on it harder. Or you could modify all 3 slightly to get the hit that you are after.

Vaping is a journey. Take your time and keep asking questions. Before you know it, you'll be the one answering questions.

hmm i bought the tank from a Canadian shop, it came in a box wrapped in plastic with all components inside (cute box actually). it does say made in china on the box, how would i know if its a clone tank or not, or does this post only talk about replacement coil heads purchased after?

Honestly i just think i burnt my 1.2 head cuz of my excitement and way to high of wattage.

yeah my friends have a subtank and the wide driptip always got super hot and i hated it. i would put the smaller drip tip from my aerotank mini on it sometimes and it was much better. not sure if its the narrower airway or not but i think your best bet would be replacing it with something more suited to you. also i think turning the wattage down would help. alot of people like that super hot vape but you dont need it for cloud production. hell i can get a lot of vapor from 10-12 watts because i can pull slower and allow the atomizer to vaporize every smidgen of it and it isnt too hot to burn my mouth.

If you vape to taste not to a number you'll experience far fewer issues.

Always prime a new / unused head with a few drops of juice, set APV to a low power level, slowly increase power taking a vape or three on each setting until you find what you like best, if you get a hint of a burnt taste turn it down.

Many products come with a scratch off security code / number on the packaging, the only way to know for sure is to check the number on the manufacturers web site.
If your #"s have been checked before most likely you have a fake, each authenticity / security number is unique to a single item.

Yes they are made in China that is correct, just check the number on the hologram on the kanger website..

I'd say your 1.2 is burnt out, both the 0.5 and 1.2 have the min and max wattage written on them, if you've gone over that by some then it's burnt and it has to be replaced.. The replacment coils come in packs of 5..

@Topwater nailed it really, good advise there ..
