Just bought one of these babies, but I can't seem to get rid of an odd taste. No matter if I use the 0.5 OCC coil, or the rba. The taste is somewhat burnt-like, but not the same as a dry-hit. I have tried re-wicking the RBA 3 times, but still the issue persists. I am running on fairly low wattage(10-12). If I crank it up much higher, it goes to hot and starts to pop and spit. This is NOT a dry-hit. I have tried my juice in my other sub-ohm tank(eGo One Mega), and no problem there. What could be the problem?

The odd taste might be machine oil. Kanger is infamous for this issue. When I first got my Kanger Subtank Nano, I rinsed it with a water/vodka solution and tried it out. Kept getting an odd aftertaste and pulled up a few threads on here. Then I noticed an odd smell from the box and it was definitely machine oil, so I washed the tank out using some Dawn dish washing liquid and that cleared it right up.

Try starting at a really low wattage and work your way up. Also make sure you've primed the coil with 4-5 drops of juice and let it sit and wick for a few minutes. Don't do any "primer pulls". When you fire that mutha up take easy puffs until it starts to produce vapor consistently and then crank up the wattage slowly and then take harder pulls. Those tanks are easy to flood so go slow and easy at first.

I never got on at all with either the original 0.5 or 1.2 ohm coils, I couldn't stop them popping even at low wattages. However I had much more luck with the RBA's with the pre-made coils that came in the bag. I could use them without any popping and got a nice smooth vape, but you do need to make sure you haven't deformed the coil or messed up the wicking when assembling.

If I were you I would try the cleaning advice given earlier, then try messing with the RBA, then if you still aren't happy try to get some of the new vertical coils that Kanger are providing for subtanks. In particular I can use the 1.5 ohm ones without popping on a subtank plus, although I did eventually suffer from a leaking issue with that tank/coil combo, not sure if it was a one-off.

just a rule of thumb, new tank/coil (even tho i use RBA) vinegar + dishwasher soak and a long hot water rinse and dry.
