re: Kanger EVOD, T3, MT3, has anyone else had a problem with the wicking material coming loose and "shedding"? If so, have you found a "fix" that doesn't require entire rebuilding of the wick assembly? The wire coil is still in place, just no wick. I know the coil assembly can be rebuilt with the proper wire and wick, but I don't have the knowledge nor the testing equipment to rebuild it safely.

As far as the wick problem: There are times when I remove the coil assembly to refill & notice that pieces of wick material have come loose and are either clinging to the bundle by a hair ~ (Oops, bad pun) ~ or are significantly off-set with a "ragged" appearance on either side of the tube. I've also had pieces of wick come out of the bundle entirely, finding them stuck to the side of air (inhalation) tube.

What is the consensus? Is this is a manufacture or design problem? Not enough wick material added during manufacture, or the coil isn't tight enough?

Or...am I abusing it somehow? I try to avoid touching the wick when I have the assembly removed from the 'tank', but do gently blow (from the bottom) excess juice into a paper towel when it begins to gurgle. I check the wick before and after the "blow" but it doesn't seem to shift. I suspect that the loose material may be causing the flooding to begin with.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have one coil assembly that has lost all of the wick material, but the wire coil is still in place ~ any chance it will work if I thread a few strands of unwaxed cotton candle wick through it?
It may be slightly loose at first, but since cotton is highly absorbent it will expand when wet.

I LOVE all 3 of these clearo's for slightly different reasons: I like the performance of the EVOD over the T3's, but I'm a heavy vaper and the lower juice capacity makes frequent refilling a pain. I like the look of the MT3 but the T3 is fully transparent, so it's much easier to monitor the juice level. Just my :2c: for anyone interested. ;)

I'd like to hear from anyone who has experienced the problem with shedding wick material ~ whether you have a solution or not.

From what i understand:-

For a kangar protank there is a wick + coil and 1 or 2 favour wick on top of the main wick+coil.
The favour wick is a loose wick that is not attached to anything.

For your case, is the shedding from 1) the favour wick or 2) the main wick ?

Both 1 and 2 will shed but 1 will she faster - probably due to the way it is made.

I heard that the shed of wick can be dangerous but I have yet to read more about it as there are quite a lot of pages. Here is one of the thread, maybe you can look through it.

Not long ago I found that silica thread gives a needle-like fragments when vaping. Some people made their own independant studyes and found the same problem. The size of needles vary from rather big to small enough to penetrate lungs alveolus and stay there. Big fragments can make an irritating and injuring effect to throat, adam's apple,
vocal ligaments, stomach when swallowed. Small can stay in lungs forever or for too long time irritating alveolus, even to clogging it up. Simpthoms are scratching or pain at throat and/or adam's apple, regular voice dissapearing at the morning.
